Hard to Say Whether 1918 or COVID Pandemic is Worse

Hard to Say Whether 1918 or COVID Pandemic is Worse

There have been many articles published by the corporate media recently noting that the number of deaths in the United States surpassed 675,000 on Sept. 20, 2021. The figure is significant in that it represents the estimated number of people who died from the influenza in the country during the 1918 influenza pandemic—the most deadly disease outbreak in the U.S. until now perhaps.1 2 3 4 5 Based on data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, CNBC reported:

COVID-19 is officially the most deadly outbreak in recent American history, surpassing the estimated U.S. fatalities from the 1918 influenza pandemic.1

While this may be true in absolute terms, it is much less so relatively-speaking, given that the U.S. population in 1918 was approximately 103.2 million, compared to an estimated 333.4 million today.6 7 According to Professor Thomas Ewing, PhD of Virginia Tech University, the death rate for the 1918 pandemic was about six in every 1,000 people in the U.S., while the death rate from COVID has been about two in every 1,000 people.5

Also, John Barry, author of “The Great Influenza: The Story of the Deadliest Pandemic in History,” notes that the 1918 influenza pandemic was “much more intense, much more frightening, and the economic damage is light-years greater.”2

Still, overall, the comparison between the two historic pandemics seems reasonable. “This is the pandemic I will be studying and teaching to the next generation of doctors and public-health students,” medical historian Howard Markel, MD, PhD said.1 Some have speculated that, if anything, the COVID pandemic has been much worse in absolute terms, with Bloomberg citing one estimate of the number of U.S. deaths from the CDC as high as 830,443.2

The issue of the accuracy of the COVID death count in the U.S., however, may also apply in the opposite direction. The CDC has stated:

For over 5% of these [COVID] deaths, COVID-19 was the only cause mentioned on the death certificate. For deaths with conditions or causes in addition to COVID-19, on average, there were 4.0 additional conditions or causes per death.8

In other words, of the 675,000 COVID deaths surpassed on Sept. 20, only about 33,750 were attributable solely to COVID. The rest of deaths each had an average of four “conditions or causes” or “comorbidities” that may have been the actual cause of death. As of Sept. 12, for example, when the CDC estimated COVID deaths at 652,871, influenza and pneumonia were listed on the death certificate as “conditions contributing to deaths” a total of 306,957 times. Respiratory failure was a contributing condition 248,976 times… 8

    • Hypertensive diseases: 126,286 times
    • Diabetes: 102,952 times
    • Cardiac arrest: 79,034 times
    • Ischemic heart disease: 70,092 times
    • Adult respiratory distress syndrome: 68,936 times
    • Sepsis: 63,217 times
    • Chronic respiratory diseases: 57,255 times
    • Heart failure: 49,342 times
    • Cardiac arrhythmia: 48,117 times
    • Other diseases of the circulatory system: 42,990 times
    • Cerebrovascular diseases: 31,946 times
    • Malignant neoplasms: 31,449 times
    • Other diseases of the respiratory system: 28,596 times
    • Respiratory arrest: 13,722 times 8

So while COVID-19 was listed on the death certificates of the 675,000 cases surpassed on Sept. 20, is it accurate to say that COVID actually killed all those people? Or is it possible that the COVID death count in the U.S. may be inflated? It’s not an unreasonable question. It’s one that has been raised by many Americans during the past two years. “Is this death rate based on truth?”asked internal medicine specialist Annie Bukacek, MD of Hosanna Health Care in Kalispell, Montana. “Are the reported deaths from COVID-19 truly deaths from COVID-19?9 10

After all, dying with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that can lead to COVID symptoms is not the same as dying of the virus.

As Daniel Spitz, MD, chief medical examiner in Macomb County, Michigan said last year, “I think a lot of clinicians are putting [COVID-19] on death certificates when it might not be accurate because they died with coronavirus and not of coronavirus.”9

Minnesota state senator and family physician Scott Jensen, MD said in an interview that he had received a seven-page document from the Minnesota Department of Health “coaching” him on how to fill out death certificates. He said he felt he was being told that he didn’t have to have a “confirmed laboratory test for COVID-19 in order to make the death certificate be COVID-19.10

“The big controversy is: Do you die of COVID or with COVID?” said David Nace, MD, professor of geriatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.11

Suggesting there may be a problem with the math does not minimize the gravity of the pandemic. It simply highlights the difficulty in making a fair comparison between this pandemic and the one in 1918.

If you really want to help people find the truth you need to find it first yourself as the media is full of lies. Please research the 1918 so called pandemic and you will find that the only ones sick of dead were the vaccinated which is what is happening now. The PCR test as said by its inventor Kary Mullins who died suddenly after speaking out that it was not designed to find viruses which have not been isolated or proven that they are anything else than our own body defense and clean up system found at all inflammation, injuries and toxins sites .Here is some facts for you to check on the ingredients that have been identified in all four poison shots.https://nobulart.com/covid-19-vaccine-ingredients/

Thank you for the reference; it was very interesting reading and I printed it out for those who constantly urge me to get the vaccination, when I have suffered two vaccine injuries and am allergic to five antibiotics. Possibly this will open their eyes.

Actually, this is worse. In 1918 the medical community didn’t know how bad high-dose aspirin could be. Today we have a politically motivated pandemic and medicines that could help patients deal with the disease have been shut down so only gene therapy shots can be administered. Furthermore, we have unconstitutional mandates imposed by politicians and CEOs, ignoring advise from medical professionals. Basically, in 1918 people died because of ignorance; and today we have people dying because of political expediency and pharmaceutical company greed.

My view of the “Spanish Flu” has always been that it did not originate in “Spain” and it was not the “Flu”. The US Government and Doctors made this up in order
to divert the attention from the truth. Eleanora McBean was a witness at the time and remembered hundreds of patients who had the “Flu”
and wrote a book (The poison Needle) about her experiences. One thing she said was that at the time, it was common knowledge that only “the vaccinated” died.

With the quantum difference in the state of medicine in 1918 and 2020, the fact that the same number of people have died is nothing short of a mind-boggling national shame. We failed, not just a little but overwhelmingly.

Suggesting there “MAY” be a problem with the math absolutely is critical as accurately counting deaths caused BY Covid recategorizes this lie into reality. It is not, nor never was a “Pandemic”. The evil truth is a great number of those 95% who died WITH Covid need not have. The intentional restriction of proven and effective therapeutics to murder hundreds of thousands of Americans served the globalists well in their successful propaganda campaign to use Covid as one of many tools to facilitate “The Great Global Reset” and with it the destruction of our Republic as it was founded, to be replaced with a Totalitarian Dictatorship. The attempt through a narrow lens to compare a man made fear campaign with 1918 is simultaneously laughable and tragic. We are on the verge of losing our country and we have media still either complicit in their intent, or stunningly ignorant to the truth putting out an article that seeks to make an apples to apples comparison to events disparately different.

Who cares about this…it’s a silly debate. The real trouble has already been implanted into 100’s of millions of humans. The next super pandemic, which has already begun, will be directly caused by the mRNA injections as they cause numerous ADE events and many other health issues and many deaths. As millions begin to suffer, it’s going to take a monstrous toll on our economy, finances and social systems.

This is the real game plan begun by pfizer’s first mRNA patents going back 30 years. Of course, all this disease and dying is going to be blamed of the non-vaccinated where they will be quarantined are forcefully injected. Meanwhile it will really be the injected that are causing the problems That is the plan of big pharma, joey, the FDA, CDC, AMA and fauci along with gates and the life insurance companies.

I totally agree with all these comments. We will never know for sure on thr numbers since they quit asking “vaxed or unvaxed” due to vaxed numbers skyrocketed for delta.

  8. Peace   October 7, 2021 at 9:20 pm

The article mentions the same context as closely as “The truth about Covid 19” by Dr. Mercola and Ronnie Cummins. We don’t know the actual number of covid deaths, but cdc, hospitals, and others misrepresent covid death certificates when patients didn’t die from covid itself.

  9. Rob Plenderleith   October 8, 2021 at 8:20 am

The Covid “Plandemic” is an exaggerated load of bovine manure. Predominantly old people and immunocompromised people dying is nothing to panic about. 60 million people die every year even without Covid and the death stats haven’t changed. 2021 is no different to any other year.
It is pathetic. Dying “with” covid is not necessarily dying of Covid.

A novel flu is much more dangerous than a novel coronavirus. This is because the flu virus can completely change its ‘spike’ into a version the immune system cannot recognise. Not so with coronaviruses, they can only undergo point mutations so cannot change the spike enough to evade the immune system. This is proven, as everyone already has antibodies to covid-19, but as Dr. Bahkdi puts it, they are locked up in the lymph nodes until needed. That is why testing populations for antibodies will not show the true levels.
