High Doses of Vitamin C Used to Prevent and Treat Coronavirus Infections in China

High Doses of Vitamin C Used to Prevent and Treat Coronavirus Infections in China

As reported by Orthomolecular Medicine News Service on Mar. 3, 2020, the government of Shanghai in China announced that it is recommending that coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) be treated with high amounts of intravenous vitamin C, with dosage recommendations varying from 50 to 200 milligrams per kilogram of body weight to up to 200 mg per kg per day.1 2

“These dosages are approximately 4,000 to 16,000 mg for an adult, administered by IV,” said Atsuo Yanagisawa, MD, PhD, who is president of the Tokyo-based Japanese College of Intravenous Therapy in Tokyo, Japan. “This specific method of administration is important because vitamin C’s effect is at least ten times more powerful by IV than if taken orally.”1 2

The official backing for vitamin C therapy for COVID-19 by the Shanghai government follows several small independent studies and at least three clinical trials reporting successful treatment of coronavirus patients with vitamin C,1 2 3 4 5 6 7 including one at Xi’an Jiaotong University Second Hospital. According to a statement released by the hospital:

On the afternoon of February 20, 2020, another 4 patients with severe new coronaviral pneumonia recovered from the C10 West Ward of Tongji Hospital. In the past eight patients have been discharged from hospital… [H]igh-dose vitamin C achieved good results in clinical applications. We believe that for patients with severe neonatal pneumonia and critically ill patients, vitamin C treatment should be initiated as soon as possible after admission… [E]arly application of large doses of vitamin C can have a strong antioxidant effect, reduce inflammatory responses, and improve endothelial function. . . Numerous studies have shown that the dose of vitamin C has a lot to do with the effect of treatment. . . [H]gh-dose vitamin C can not only improve antiviral levels, but more importantly, can prevent and treat acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress (ARDS).”1 2

The associate director for the clinical trials, Richard Cheng, MD, PhD of the United States, has been working closely with medical and governmental authorities in China to encourage Chinese hospitals to implement vitamin C therapy—through both high oral doses and by IV.1 2

Dr. Cheng said, “Vitamin C is very promising for prevention, and especially important to treat dying patients when there is no better treatment. Over 2,000 people have died of the COIV-19 outbreak and yet I have not seen or heard large dose intravenous vitamin C being used in any of the cases. The current sole focus on vaccine and specific antiviral drugs for epidemics is misplaced.”2

The use of vitamin C is also supported by the Shanghai Medical Association (SMA). Based on a clinical study involving more than 300 patients, the SMA is recommending high doses of vitamin C even for light infections of coronavirus. The SMA’s ‘Shanghai Plan’ calls for 50 to 100 mg per kg of bodyweight per day to as much as 200 mg per kg via IV for critically ill patients.8

“We need to broadcast a message worldwide very quickly,” urged Dr. Cheng. “Vitamin C (small or large dose) does no harm to people and is the one of the few, if not the only, agent that has a chance to prevent us from getting, and can treat, COVID-19 infection”2

The MSM and many blogs that carry their water have been blocking and deleting comments over the last week that have posted about the use of high dose Vitamin C. Another treatment talked about is the use of chloroquine, a widely available and inexpensive molecule commonly used to treat malaria. Prof. Dr Didier Raoult has talked about it’s use. Didier Raoult is somewhat of a controversial figure but isn’t it more important to think outside the vaccine orbit and re-purpose something that is readily available than to spend billions on a vaccine that may result in the same problems as the SARS vaccine that have already been studied and proven to be dangerous.

You could also add moringa oil? As this superfood is anti-viral, moringa has been around for a long time 150AD-150BC. It was mostly used for beauty but I use it to keep health with lowered my blood sugar levels and cholesterol and blood pressure

    I’m doing Before 50,000 IU/d D3 before exposure. Already on a daily 10,000 IU/d since last fall.
A good boost. As my D3 regimen has kept me from having but one common cold each season, boosting makes some sense.

There was a guest speaker on an am radio channel about this the other day. He was talking about how this particular application of vitamin C requires a different manufacturing process and very few companies actually provide the properly assimilated compound. Is it possible to recreate the effects with high dose oral intake? Thank you.

This reply is to boymom too…… I use organic L Ascorbic Acid and mix 3:1 with baking soda to buffer and make drinkable. Use 33oz water bottles. Mix about 12g C in each with baking soda. (Bobs Red Mill). Body can hold approx 5g of C IF taken throughout the day….otherwise it retains what it needs and your excrete the rest. Natural anti-virals are fine but C works by supercharging the immune systems production of killer T-cells and microphages. So, that addresses all invaders/pathogens. Now, one other method of oral C that is said stays longer (next to intravenous) in the body is C lipid combination liposomal C. Easily enters cells and is more bio-available longer. More expensive of course. My C source is pureorganicingredients.com. Careful with too much oral C as bowel tolerance (the runs) is important.

I wonder which type of Vitamin C is used since it can be ascorbic acid, caclium ascorbate, Ester-C and others. High dosing of Vitamin C has been known to help cancer and also whooping cough. But I believe only ascorbic acid Vitamin C is good for whooping. Any info for Covid-19?

MMS (chlorine dioxide) – 6 drops activated and highly diluted with about 4-6 ozs of water is ingestible and effective. This part is censored by big tech and big Pharma. Go to Genesis2Church(dot)ch to find out more.

Do a search for patents of chlorine dioxide for therapeutic use.

I would ask all readers of this article to consider spreading the results of Dr Cheng, and the healing abilities of high dose vitamin c in all their social interactions. Also, mention these results on local talk shows and letters to the editor of local newspapers.
This is an opportunity to split wide open the big pharma monopoly on health.

    Hopefully your doctor won’t mind.
The problem with eating Vit.C is much slower, no comparison.
If young and healthy, you can easily digest 100mg per hour. If sick, and your C is already low, plus being used up fast, you might digest 200mg.
Cigarettes can waste 50+ mg, each.
And Vit. C IS a complex & you need the real thing, so not just the plain acid, certainly not synthetics +you need bioflavanoids, etc.

Linus Pauling fought the system about the obvious benefits of Vit.C., and big med co’s beat him down. Funny how he was awarded all those Nobel Prizes. Bought the med/hosp/INS industries were not as well cemented into deception & gouging, yet.
Today, corrupt gov leads the way. Do I digress?

As you age, everything gets slower and troublesome, so you CANNOT digest as fast (making treating nutrition & osteoporosis in old age hopeless; they should have told us to eat for it, when 20-somethings, but then they couldn’t sell (equally-pointless?) emergency drugs & methods when you get old).
_ So for OLDER folks, apparently the target of this Chinamanlandiana Corona CoVID-2019, you need that intravenous boost. Hey, now we know real Vit. A (Not synthetic) cures river blindness. They TRIED to sell drugs & methods, there, too.

The bottled synthetic multi-vitamins are pretty useless. A few like A & C are nearly as cheap for the real thing–or at least, affordable to The The Poor People. and recall the NY A.G. and so on tested the grocery-store brands, all the major stores + GND—–AND FOUND THEM CRAP and/or CONTAMINATED. But were they from China? What matters is, YOU CANNOT TRUST THOSE STORES. Back in 2007-ish the bad stuff from China got in the “news.” Today…. shhhh. But at least the major prescriptions come from Puerto Rico.

“C,” for vitamin C, corona, Chinamanlandiana, Puerto RiCo, CEOs buying Corrupt gov., The RiCo ACt, Credibility, aCCountability. Choose politiCians CyniCally.
Everybody sing!: “If I had a hammer ….”

I have been taking Vitamin C for years, ~2000 mg per day. Never had a flu shot, nor have I ever had the flu. I also took 5 doses per day, for three weeks, when I had Chicken Pox at age 50 … and suffered no ill effects. It is very important to take Vitamin C CRYSTALS, as the ‘tablets’ will lose their potency after a few months in the container.

The trick is to use an IV of Vitamin C, thiamin, and hydrocortisone. Vitamin C alone works well (with high doses), but the combination is synergistically effective.

I met Dr. Linus Pauling many years ago and am a firm believer in Vitamin C for health and well being. That is the reason I take Shaklee 500 mg sustained C
three times a day each day. I get additional Vitamin C in other supplments.
    Vitamin D3 is also important.
