Many media outlets that reported the death of Israeli flight attendant Rotem Amitai on Aug. 13, 2019 published articles with headlines that either stated she died of measles or implied as much. The Times of Israel headline, for example, read, “Flight attendant who died from measles named as Rotem Amitai.” The United Kingdom’s Daily Mail published an article titled, “Israeli flight attendant DIES from measles five months after falling ill following New York to Tel Aviv flight.”1 2
Yahoo! reported, “An Israeli Flight Attendant Just Died of Measles After Contracting the Disease 5 Months Ago.” The New York Daily News reported, “Israeli flight attendant dies of measles, 3rd fatality from virus there in 15 years.” Both the BBC and WebMD bluntly stated, “Israeli Flight Attendant Dies of Measles.”3 4 5 6
The more subtle headlines included ones like CNN’s “Israeli flight attendant dies after contracting measles” and “Flight attendant diagnosed with measles after flying from New York has died” by CBS News. There were many other similar headlines from publications that are generally respected and considered to be reputable such as Newsweek, The Washington Post and TIME.7 8 9 10 11
The problem is that it appears likely that Rotem Amitai’s cause of death was far more complicated than her measles infection. While it may seem reasonable to attribute the death of someone to measles when there is an outbreak and authorities are doing everything possible to boost vaccination rates, including threatening to fine people for noncompliance and roll back legal exemptions to vaccination, it is still important for journalists to get the facts of a story straight.
What many media outlets failed to report in articles about Amitai’s death is not only that she died of meningoencephalitis—inflammation of the brain and the tissue surrounding the brain and spinal cord—but that it was likely caused by a bacterial infection which Amitai contracted at the Meir Medical Center (photo) in Kfar Saba, Israel where she was admitted for a fever related to a measles infection.12 13 14 15
According to a news report by Israel’s Galley Zahal (Army radio) in April 2019:
[Rotem Amitai] does not just suffer from measles, she contracted an infectious bacterium during her hospitalization. The [emergency room] doctor said that, right now, there isn’t any medical diagnosis that unequivacally proves that her health was aggravated by the infection. But, according to the Ministry of Health data, every year 4,000 to 6,000 people die in Israel as a direct result of hospital infections. Report on the infection with the bacteria was transferred to the [Ministry of Health].15
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that one in 31 hospital patients has “at least one healthcare-associated infection” (HAI) a day. Of the estimated 1.7 million people who are infected with pathogens in U.S. hospitals every year, at least 99,000 of them die from those infections.16 17
Among the more aggressive, deadly and difficult to treat bacteria contracted in hospitals are methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Clostridioides difficile (C diff), vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) and carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP).17

Thank you Marco.
So her unfortunate and untimely death was politicized and used to scare people into getting measles vaccine, which is neither as protective nor as safe as advertised! Sad indeed. How much hate and desire to control the lives of others the left exudes at every turn, that they LIE and USE tragic events as clubs seeking to get their way!
Sandra, it has nothing to do with how much media A or media B wants to control anyone’s lives, an inane assertion, but rather can you guess? Yes, follow the money…..left, right, they’re all guilty
SICKENNG THAT BIG PHARMA IS NOT HELD TO ACCOUNT FOR LIABILITY FOR ANYTHING OR ANYONE THEY KILL! NOT IN THE HOSPITALS, NOT VIA BOTCHED SURGERIES, NOT VIA DEADLY VACCINES AND NOW THEY ARE PUSHING BILLS THROUGH TO REMOVE ALL LIABILITY FROM ANY PILL THEY CREATE AND CALL A MEDICINE THAT CAUSES YOU TO GET CANCER!!! THIS IS JUST FRICKIN WRONG! THEY ARE THE DEATH INDUSTRY THAT MAKES BILLION AND KILLS MILLIONS FOR PROFIT! WHERE A DOC. HAS NO CONFLICT OF INTEREST WHEN HE MAKES $$$$ BIG $$$$ OFF VACCINATING YOU & YOUR CHILD INTO DEATH, INTO BRAIN DAMAGE!! THE NEW BILLS STATE AS LONG AS THEY WARN YOU……YOU MIGHT GET CANCER AND NOW IT EVEN STATES EVEN IF YOU DIDN’T GET AN INSERT OR WERENT WARNED BY YOUR DOC..JUST TO FRICKIN BAD….THEY CAN MURDER YOU AT WILL FOR PROFIT WITH IMMUNITY! NO PROOF THE DAMN PILL WAS EVER REAL OR EVER HEALED ANYTHING! VAX HAS ZERO TRIALS FOR SAFETY- DO YOU HEAR THAT- ZERO!! YET NOW THEY WANT TO MANDATE ….THEIR …PROFITS….& OUR DEATH IS IRRELEVANT!

Is not supported by fact. Where are the facts to back this up?
Sorry – used wrong quote…

I would like to see the reference to the fact that “she died of meningoencephalitis” – who says “it was likely caused by a bacterial infection” – why?
<< She was diagnosed with meningoencephalitis — a complication of the measles virus that is similar to having both meningitis and encephalitis, respectively infections or inflammations of the lining of the brain and the brain itself. >>
*Contrary to Popular Belief, Israeli Flight Attendant Did not Die of Measles*
The Hefer Valley Council reported that a team of psychological service and education staff from the regional council came to the family’s home today to help the family at this difficult time. It was also noted that from the moment the case became known, *the Ministry of Health and the Regional Council took all the necessary steps, including vaccines and other treatments, to prevent the infection. *
(all the necessary steps, including vaccines and other treatments, to prevent the infection.) The Washington Post reported that she was infected on a flight between NY & Israel on Mar. 26, 2019. Rotem Amitai, 43, developed a fever on Mar. 31 and was admitted to Meir Medical Center near Tel Aviv that same day. She had trouble breathing and was transferred to the hospital’s intensive care unit where she was placed on a respirator. (this indicates she was seriously ill) Amitai fell into a coma the following week and reportedly remained unconscious for five months until she died on Aug. 13. No one else has been reported to have been infected on the plane and Patient Zero has not been named or found but it has been speculated not confirmed it was a child. It has not been reported what genotype of measles she was infected with. If it was a wild endemic strain that would have been reported as a big deal. Also if she was infected with one of the recently circulating D strains-that’s a bigger deal as that is a mutated strain of the virus.
Timeline wise: From what is reported less than 5 days elapsed between the flight and her admission to the hospital because of severe symptoms! This is really odd. CDC Measles Pink Book states: Clinical Features- The incubation period of measles, from exposure to prodrome averages 10–12 days. From exposure to rash onset averages 14 days (range, 7–18 days). Something is off. Could she have been misdiagnosed? There is an illness I’ve never heard of called: Aerotoxic Syndrome. The symptoms mimic measles and complications but are much more serious. https://www.fumeevents.com/aerotoxic-syndrome-what-is-it-i-got-exposed-now-what.html. This was posted on a comment board and it’s very interesting.
Back to necessary steps. The hospital reporting confirms that she was given additional vaccines-that’s plural. I’m going to go out on a limb and say she was given the MMR because I don’t see how a Pertussis or Varicella vaccine would help. Not only that but the hospital states this: *to prevent the infection. * If Rotem was diagnosed correctly with measles what infection are they trying to prevent? Next question is why would the hospital give her any vaccines if she had measles? CDC’s Pink Book on Measles states this: Persons with moderate or severe acute illness *should not be vaccinated until the illness has improved. This precaution is intended to prevent complicating the management of an ill patient with a potential vaccine adverse reaction, such as fever. Minor illness (e.g., otitis media, mild upper respiratory infections), concurrent antibiotic therapy, and exposure to or recovery from other illness are not contraindications to measles vaccination. Pink Book also states: Postexposure Prophylaxis Live measles vaccine provides permanent protection and may prevent disease if given within 72 hours of exposure. Rotem was well past the so called 72 hour prevention window when she showed up at the hospital and was immediately put on a respirator. Rotem had been on a respiratory from the time she entered the hospital so we can say she was more than moderate-acutely ill.
Giving her vaccines medically IMHO made no sense and is malpractice. Her immune system is already activated and shots, while sick, put it into overdrive. Why would the hospital inject her with a live virus vaccine, if diagnosed correctly, a live virus was waging war on her body at the time? Question not answered yet-how many vaccines was she given? What is the logic of adding more measles to her system when she already had the illness?
Rotem Amitai was diagnosed with a bacterial infection the week after she was admitted to the hospital where aggressive treatment was administered.
Rotem Amitai was diagnosed with meningoencephalitis—inflammation of the brain and meninges, which are the layers of thin tissue that surround the brain and the spinal cord. A bacterial infection can cause meningoencephalitis as well as a virus. By the hospitals’ admission Rotem received VACCINES. Measles vaccine is a live virus vaccine. The MMR vaccine can cause meningoencephalitis which is a complication associated with the measles virus which is a live attenuated (weakened) virus vaccine: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16913450, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1688304 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1793285/.
I already wondered how someone could be sick so long from measles. When I had them, after 2 weeks they were over and done with. This lady suffered from them for 5 months ! Had to be something more.
Meningoenchepalitis is frequently caused by the vaccines themselves! Sorry I don’t have references but you can “DuckDuckGo” it. Not Google, as they scensor anything that “Pharma” doesn’t want you to see.
Sad times we live in!
I could smell the BS a mile away as I started to see all the headlines posted about. Thank you for accurately reporting the truth of the matter, as always of course.
We do not know what the strain of measles was (possibly a mutated strain from the vaccine) nor do we have full disclosure of other treatments or pathological organisms she was diagnosed with. Without those details unscrupulous journalism capturing the worst propaganda tactics. People have to wake up to this. Unless you have had wild type measles then the likelihood of those populations most at risk is much higher. More vaccines are not the answer. Vaccine failure and we will be seeing more of it sadly. Wake up call…a trivial childhood illness now morphed into something much more serious.
Was she or was she not just vaccinated, recently with the MMR? I had two types of measles as a child – it’s a virus, and both my sisters had them too, and within a week to ten days, we were back outside playing – no lasting effects from the viruses!
Thank you, Marco and Redpill for your input. Truth and fact-based findings is always appreciated and important.
This original vague newspaper headlines are meant to attack the ignorant and induce and promote fear into those peaople who are already scared of contracting a life-threatening illness. However, it is my understanding that most do not die from the Measles, as my mom and others who have had the disease, while in Germany as kids during WW2, they all survived after the two week incubation period passed. Rare someone would ever pass from this disease like the chicken pox, all of us had our chicken pox parties as kids, and, again, survived. My daughter and I are on the Severe Adverse Reactions list for anything and everything that can be a simple minor virus for others but, can turn deadly for us. My daughter suffered encephalitis for three weeks as an infant from DTaP and also seizures. I suffered the same fate at her age.
