Another MMR Failure With Mumps Outbreak in Florida

thumbs down

An outbreak of mumps in 12 fully vaccinated students attending University of Florida, Gainesville campus had county health officials scratching their heads at the end of May. According to one media report, an Alachua County Health Department spokesperson said, “These things do happen. It’s a phenomenon that’s not completely understood,” and reassured students and the public that the MMR vaccine “is a safe vaccine, it’s an effective vaccine even though we have this outbreak in a group of vaccinated individuals.1

By June 4, WTSP News reported that the number of students on campus with mumps was up to 24 and a University of Florida spokesperson confirmed that all 24 students were vaccinated. Reportedly, a Florida Department of Health spokesperson said the majority of outbreaks in the U.S. are identified on college campuses and that most mumps cases go undiagnosed due to a lack of testing and reporting.2

2019: More Than 1,000 Mumps Cases Reported in U.S.

According to the CDC, “mumps outbreaks are not reportable” but there have been 1,002 cases of mumps infections reported in 42 states and the District of Columbia between Jan. 1 and May 24, 2019 in the U.S., with an increase of 266 reported cases since Apr. 26. The CDC.gov website states that, “mumps outbreaks can still occur in U.S. communities of people who previously had one or two doses of MMR vaccine.3 The CDC also states that, “a person with two doses of MMR vaccine has about an 88 percent reduction in risk for mumps.”4

The numbers of mumps infections reported in the U.S. this year exceeds the number of measles cases reported this year, which totaled 931 cases confirmed through May 31, 2019.5 According to one page on the CDC’s website, “mumps outbreaks are not reportable.”6 However, according to another page on the CDC’s website, mumps has been a reportable disease for many years.7

For more than a decade, there have been continuing reports published in the medical literature documenting mumps outbreaks in highly vaccinated populations. Most of the individuals who got mumps had received one or two doses of MMR vaccine, especially college students and young adults.8

Asymptomatic Mumps Infections

Both unvaccinated and vaccinated persons can be asymptomatically infected with mumps and transmit the infection without knowing it to other people.  In 2015, the CDC stated, “Before the introduction of the mumps vaccine in the United States in 1967, 15% to 27% of infections were asymptomatic. In the post-vaccine era, it is difficult to estimate the number of asymptomatic infections, because it is unclear how vaccine modifies clinical presentation.”9

2008: Waning Immunity, Different Vaccine Strains & Mumps Outbreak Strains

In 2008, researchers from Sanofi Pasteur and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) evaluated mumps outbreaks and mumps vaccine (MMR) effectiveness. After reviewing 47 published articles on mumps outbreaks in vaccinated populations, they reported that there is “evidence of waning immunity, which is likely a factor in mumps outbreaks, aggravated by possible antigenic differences between the vaccine strain and outbreak strains.” Although mumps vaccine was found to be protective, researchers said that, “vaccine effectiveness during outbreaks was lower than that reported during controlled clinical trials.”10

Specifically, they found that:

  • In 2006, “a series of mumps outbreaks occurred in the United States, despite 2-dose vaccination coverage of over 95 percent, and in some investigations, over 99 percent of patients had been vaccinated with 2 doses of [MMR] vaccine;”
  • “Viruses isolated from recent mumps outbreaks differed phylogenically and, possibly, antigenically from the vaccine viruses used;” The Jeryl Lynn RIT-4384 mumps vaccine strains in MMR are genotype A viruses, while wild-type viruses associated with outbreaks occurring in the U.S. and other countries using MMR belong to genotype groups B, C, D, G, H and I.

The researchers concluded in 2008:

That outbreaks have recently occurred in populations with more than 95 percent 2-dose vaccine coverage strongly suggest that long term prevention of mumps outbreaks with use of current vaccines and vaccination schedules may not be feasible.11

2018: Mumps in Highly Vaccinated U.S. College Students

In 2018, an analysis of a mumps outbreak in 2015-2016 at the University of Iowa and surrounding community found that of 453 cases in the country, 66 percent occurred in university students, primarily undergraduates, who were highly vaccinated: 86 percent had 2 MMR doses and 12 percent had 3 MMR doses. Researchers stated;

One-third of cases among students interviewed reported contact with someone who was ill with mumps. Though  many reported either face-to-face contract or direct saliva contact with a person who had mumps, the true contact rate may be underestimated due to contact with asymptomatic cases and a reluctance to report close contact.

MMR Vaccine: A Universal Failure?

In 2016, researchers in the Netherlands reported that during recent genotype G mumps outbreaks worldwide, most mumps patients with symptomatic or asymptomatic mumps infections had received 2 doses of MMR vaccine during childhood.12

Two years later, Italian researchers published a review of 15 years of published studies on mumps vaccine entitled “Mumps Outbreaks: A problem in need of solutions.”13 They concluded:

Prevention of mumps remains an unsolved problem. Available vaccines are effective but the protection they evoke declines over time. The use of booster doses can control outbreaks but it is not precisely defined whether they can prevent them. The rapid decline of antibody levels could limit the impact of the introduction of a third dose in the recommended vaccine schedule. Furthermore, in most of the areas, mumps viral strains that are genetically different from those include in the vaccines are emerging and this may favor immune escape.

The measles vaccine in MMR is experiencing similar problems with failures among vaccinated persons: waning immunity; vaccine strains that do not match wild-type strains; and asymptomatic infections in vaccinated children and adults that are not being identified or reported.14

From mumps to measles outbreaks in highly vaccinated populations, MMR is beginning to look a lot like a universally failed vaccine.

  1. so it’s ‘effective’, except when it’s not – is that the rationale here? That’s like saying I’m a great swimmer, except when I drown.

  2. How are they (vaccines) effective if “the protection they evoke declines over time.” Please stop insulting our intelligence! How is that these researchers remove their brains and ignore the elephant in the room! The fact that they don’t provide protection indefinitely right off the bat should tell any thinking person that vaccines are ineffective. Personally, I believe that we should be putting more research and understanding into how our immune systems work and how to make them stronger and more money and time into eliminating toxins, phasing out plastics and taking down the corporations that are clearly doing everything they can to profit off our ill health and deaths.

  3. These trivalent and pentavalent crap tosses are not vaccines but toxic bundles to save money! Monovalent vaccines were more effective by far, but why waste money on it if you can create a syrup of toxicity for tenth of the cost and a millions of profit

  4. I had mumps as a kid. It’s a childhood illness. Let them get the natural immunity.

They want you to believe it’s effective. Maybe if they say it enough, they’ll believe it. Same goes for SAFE. How can injecting garbage into your body be safe?

  5. Getting mumps in childhood is a perfect system in North America and developed countries. It sad that kids in 3rd world countries are suffering. Let’s work on clean drinking water and better conditions for those so challenged in these countries.

  6. Research Catherine Frompovitch’s career in fighting for TRUTH re: vaccines on behalf of the American people. SHAME ON THE AMA. SHAME ON THE CDC. SHAME ON EVERYONE’S FAMILY DOCTOR. SHAME ON US AS PARENTS WHO PUT AUTHORITY ON A PEDESTAL AND N-E-V-E-R INVESTIGATE ITS WORTHINESS.

  7. “These things do happen. It’s a phenomenon that’s not completely understood,” and reassured students and the public that the MMR vaccine “is a safe vaccine, it’s an effective vaccine even though we have this outbreak in a group of vaccinated individuals.

There needs to be a vaccine for cognitive dissonance. I’m sure by now county health officials across the country have been made aware that there is a lawsuit against Merck for falsifying the efficacy results of the Mumps portion of the MMR.

Former Merck Scientists Sue Merck Alleging MMR Vaccine Efficacy Fraud https://ahrp.org/former-merck-scientists-sue-merck-alleging-mmr-vaccine-efficacy-fraud/.

At some point someone is going to have to step outside of the pharma bubble or fear based pharma culture that Merck has created, be a grown up and say: Hey, this stuff doesn’t work. Period.

Dr. Gregory Poland of the Mayo Clinic reported in 1994 this about the measles:
The apparent paradox is that as measles immunization rates rise to high levels in a population, measles becomes a disease of immunized persons. Failure to reach the goal of measles elimination. Apparent paradox of measles infections in immunized persons.
    Poland GA1, Jacobson RM.

With all the Mumps outbreaks recently in highly vaccinated populations it seems you can apply the same conclusion: The apparent paradox is that as MUMPS immunization rates rise to high levels in a population, MUMPS becomes a disease of immunized persons.

  8. This is not a life-threatening disease for children, but can have serious side effects in adults. But I have a solution! Natural immunity!

  9. From my own research, which indicates vaccines including the MMR damage and in some cases kill FAR more, thousands more each year than any childhood illness or disease. Unfortunately without being to hold manufacturers accountable and our VAERS injury reporting system isn’t in the favor of those ex vax parents, gaslit and heartbroken the information these parents AND some highly respected medical doctors and nurses are screaming from the rooftops isn’t heard as truth and as MISinformation. We have the truth on our side, and we won’t be on the wrong side of history on this one. Despite the fearmongering the media is PAID to tell you by the pharmaceutical companies. They’ve got BIG deep pockets to budget for marketing. Stand strong and hold your babies close…encourage each new parent to read the insert and research those ingredients!! Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. God bless

  10. Nature and the natural order of things are ruling and for a mere man is impossible to claim victory over it. Man can and is ruining everything that he touches, no matter how advanced or so called scientific it’s method might be. Man should humble itself admit it’s limits and co-operate harmoniously, instead of fighting against what nature or Creation ordered. This is my taking away, anyhow.

  11. There is already a whole body of growing professionals who have continued to or returned to doing exactly what you are talking about, JBR. It’s the powers that be who make money off of the vaccines & all the other bad health science that keep this country & others on the wrong road. I have listened to & learned from so many in the on-going offerings of docuseries on natural health promotion over the last year or two, that anyone can listen to & learn from. And the numbers f professionals featured in these series is growing with each one.

  12. The MMR vaccine is a complete fraud and failure. The recent measles outbreak is another example. In New Hampshire researchers found the measles strain there was due to the strain found in the VACCINE, not wild measles. In other words the vaccine itself is causing the outbreak. Same with the mumps no doubt. Merck is being sued by their own scientists for FRAUD. They put rabbit antibodies into human blood samples to show there was an immune response to the MMR vaccine when in fact there was none! Furthermore the MMR vaccine has been proven to cause autism in African American boys below age 3. Dr. William Thompson, a senior CDC researcher, did the study. The CDC criminally redacted his findings before releasing them publicly. He was outraged and became a whistleblower, testifying before congress. Rep. William Posey, R.Fl, has his full testimony.

  13. What must be mentioned here is the failure of the mumps portion of the vaccine. We can see this in a Federal False Claims Act lawsuit filed in the eastern district of Pennsylvania, Civil Action No. 10 4374, filed August 24, 2010, by two former Merck virologists, acting for the United States, against Merck & Co. Merck has been trying every lawyer trick to get this suit dismissed or delay it forever. The FDA requires that all licensed vaccines show a 95% or higher efficacy in generating antibodies in human blood, a surrogate endpoint, as the vaccines are never tested to determine if they prevent any disease. The plaintiffs alleged that Merck falsified the mumps portion of the MMR test results, which originally showed 79% efficacy, by spiking the human blood with rabbit blood to achieve the 95% efficacy. The plaintiffs also alleged that Merck has been doing this to the efficacy tests for the mumps vaccine since 1999 and has been selling an ineffective vaccine since then and continues to do so today. Our government has been paying Merck millions for an ineffective mumps vaccine for nearly two decades that has allowed mumps outbreaks in fully vaccinated individuals. What was the reaction from the FDA to this lawsuit? Dead silence! This is a gross betrayal of the public trust.

  14. Don’t worry that people get infected after vaccination, it’s still effective, so they say. How can anyone not hear this as consummate nonsense? This is Orwellian-speak, amazingly self-contradictory, shocking to hear it come out of anyone’s mouth in earnestness, but whereas Orwell was lampooning the extravagant argot of the totalitarian state, the pro-vaxxers seem to believe this folly and seem to expect others to believe it as well. Remarkably, they often do. Information such as the lawsuit against Merck or even the suppression of research implicating vaccines with autism, such as William Thompson reported are conveniently brushed aside or scoffed at. When has there ever been such a contempt for science, such a willing self-deception by so many people, perpetrated so broadly, by so many supposed protectors of health, such as the CDC, WHO, and FDA?

  15. HA! This shows how IGNORANT they truly are. Oh, “Trust Us, We’re Experts”! NOT. What a bunch of babbling baboons. They have no clue that their scientism views are based on totally flawed science and germ theory!

  16. It is exuberating to see more people leaving rants on the criminal agenda, this has been long coming, and I appreciate also having articles such as these providing us with such information to wake up the masses: that for so long, we have been bamboozled to all the lies to bring down the population. Thank you to all and please share this and have them join NVIC, the cause to defend humanity against corporate greed.

  17. There is nothing to take the place of natural immunity. The fact that our source of production of vaccines is China and we have no method of quality controls, I suspect it’s possible that inferior vaccines could be provided to us. Seems to me the quality control is lost after it arrives here but there needs to be some sort of testing the vaccines for quality. Why push for vaccinations when they don’t work? Many of us got those diseases as children and it wasn’t unheard of for Mom’s to bring their children to the ill child’s home just to expose theirs and get it over with. We all caught those as children and it was a normal part of growing up. How many people that have natural immunity have caught a second round?? I would guess none.

  18. Once upon a time vaccines were developed with the goal of preventing disease.
Now they are developed with the goal of making money.

  19. Glyphosate residues are involved in vaccine production and contamination: consider the implications of the ‘legal’ ingredients, as listed in the Codex Alimentarius of the United Nations, which governs Pesticide Residues allowed in foods, feeds and animal products.

Vaccines are grown within eggs, which are legally allowed five parts per million of Glyphosate residue. The primary countries where vaccines are produced, Brazil, India, and the USA, all use Glyphosate, & Roundup.

Since Glyphosate is an artificial Amino Acid, it can fit into the growing proteins, mistakenly in place of one of the hundreds of Amino Acids that link all protein chains. Vaccine mutation may explain the random, but dangerous effects reported from inoculation; these reports have increased as the use of Glyphosate and Roundup have permeated crops.

Please consider the implications to vaccine safety, and a simple solution: using organic ingredients to grow vaccines. Inoculations could be safer, if grown on organic materials!
MonSAnto is stumbling, but vaccines’ mutations will drop them once and for all
