Media Dismisses Legitimate Concerns About Vaccines

dismissive media

Opinion | I am sorry to say I found the recent Orlando Sentinel editorial “Florida should end religious exemptions to measles vaccine”1 to be really crass and heartless in tone.

Tired points were once again trotted out (movement stems from “false” study in The Lancet, no link between autism and vaccines, Jenny McCarthy’s “propaganda,” anti-vaxxers promote junk science, their fears are unfounded, their motives are questionable, and so on).

What I’ve discovered in this movement is that “anti-vaxxers” have real concerns, but no one outside the movement will listen. The media just demonizes these parents, then moves on.

Many were once pro-vaccine parents; they followed guidelines and got their children immunized, but their children got profoundly ill or died after vaccination. Since 1988, the federal government has paid nearly $4 billion to 6,000 people through the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.2

These people now network and disseminate multiple studies and related information from credible sources in the U.S. and around the world.

These studies clearly detail problems with the ingredients of the vaccines themselves; how powerfully they can affect the brain, how problematic multiple injections are; how sensitive children can be to the shots; how the medical establishment treats the families once they’ve encountered a health problem they believe might stem from the vaccines; and many other issues. Most vaccine-injured children never recover.

They share their own family experiences with vaccine injury, what it’s like as parents of vaccine-injured children, or to have experienced a death due to vaccines. This is a sub-culture that can discuss VAERS, NCVIA, VICP, what vaccine package inserts actually say, vaccine ingredients, excipients, contaminants, adjuvants, asymptomatic transmission, shedding, herd immunity, adverse reactions, titers and immunity factors.

And before you can say, “But they’re not doctors,” understand that many of them are doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals who share concerns with parents.

Several different metals are included in the making of some vaccines, and what those metals can do as they cross into brain tissues of developing children have health professionals and researchers extremely concerned. Yes, there are legitimate studies that raise questions as to the safety of this practice. I haven’t yet mentioned the very serious concerns people have with including human tissue, bovine tissue, monkey tissue, etc., in the vaccine ingredients.

Safety studies in this field are very controversial, and with good reasons. “Anti-vaxxer” activist groups, such as Physicians for Informed Consent, the National Vaccine Information Center and the Children’s Health Defense led by Robert Kennedy Jr., fight for more and better studies on all these issues to be conducted—separately from the influence of the pharmaceutical industry that produces vaccines.

The public doesn’t get to see this side of the “anti-vaxxers.” I’ve never seen a news account or an opinion piece in any mainstream press that portrayed these knowledgeable, concerned parents and professionals as anything other than brainwashed, uninformed trouble-makers that want to endanger everyone for their own selfish reasons.

The Sentinel’s editorial opinion about Florida’s religious exemptions to vaccines followed this pattern perfectly, parroting several negative stereotypes and assuming dishonest motivation on the part of some who want to be exempted for religious reasons

Everyone understands that these diseases can be deadly.

But if the formulating of the vaccines has gone awry, and there are now inherent dangers or philosophical objections, we shouldn’t pretend they don’t exist.

  1. I hope all the monkeys who won’t speak, see or hear no evil start having vaccine-injured children, a lot of them, and they will see what it’s like. Pro-vaxxers are ridiculous and they won’t even listen to reason and true stories.

    1. if it happens to one of their kids/family members they would probably deny it and attribute the cause to something else rather to the vaccines ?

  2. “they followed guidelines and got their children immunized,…” They got their children vaccinated. That is not the same thing as immunized.

    1. Actually someone pointed out to me that receiving vaccinations does not mean that the person has been immunized so now I realize that you make a good point here. Society has sadly believed that being vaccinated has given them immunity when it really hasn’t. At least not one that is permanent and it requires boosters every so many years.

  3. It would be devastating enough to see one’s perfectly healthy child develop a chronic condition or die as a result of getting a vaccine that you believed was perfectly safe. But most good people having experienced something like that, would naturally seek to inform others of what happened hoping to spare others from a similar tragedy.

So I can only imagine the additional trauma to the parent of a vaccine-injured child, when they tried to, “do the right thing” by speaking up to prevent it happening to others, and then find themselves being vilified in the media, or publicly shamed as a scientifically illiterate nut.

Anyone who believes vaccines are safe and that no one should be allowed to refuse them — please just try to imagine what it might be like if YOU were one of those parents….and after experiencing this trauma, realized there were lots of others with a similar sad story — what kind of response would you hope for from the community, the media, the government etc?

Current vaccine policy, that prioritizes industry profits over children’s health is morally wrong and anyone who condemns those seeking to educate about what is happening, or to restrict their speech, is a party to egregious injustice.

  4. It’s not the formulation of the vaccines that are bad per se. It’s the whole concept that all the toxins in them protect us and the community via herd immunity. It is not how our bodies work! Getting sick from harmless diseases is an exercise on our immunity not to mention creatine real life long immunity. In addition, hygiene is the # 1 most effect way to control the spread.

    1. I agree with Christine. I also think that, while the concept may be effective, ginning up new mix and match products combining vaccines created from various media, adjuvants and preservatives, and forcing them on the public without testing the combination, is a recipe for disaster.

And the media is revving up the public to be hysterical on this issue. On social media, anyone who dares ask a question or raise any reasonable concern is immediately labelled an “antivaxxer” and attacked. And this is loudest among people who claim to be “pro science”. There is NEVER a discussion of relative risk. Or alternatives like hygiene practices and putting the funds into publicizing and teaching those practices instead.

  5. vaccine was created by that knucklehead false doctor edward jenner who destroyed his own kids the worlds first vaccine injured children. the smallpox vaccine did not work in 1871 smallpox pandemic. today not only do the vaccines do not work, they all shed giving the disease to others.

  6. This was an excellent editorial and I encourage the author to submit it to more mainstream news media outlets for wider coverage.

  7. I am not in the shoes of the vaccines injured parents but have listened. I believe the parents! Because I did a lot of research trying to prove vaccines were safe. However found just the opposite. They are not safe or affective that’s so obvious.
That parents are right and have been all along. There’s plenty of science that confirms that they are right vaccines cause harm and death. There is also plenty of of logic that not only confirms it but verifies that vaccines cause harm and death. And just plan common sense speaks volumes of the damages that has been done.
So the problem is for those who refuse to read the inserts. Who refuse to admit they made a mistake. Or take responsibility for those mistakes. Or who refuse to listen to the parents, logic , common sense, science. For then they would have admitt their wrong not the parents . The promoters of vaccines are wrong vaccines cause harm and death. Both short term and long term. And will be abundantly clear for those who listen and learn.
Blessings to all who have been harmed by pharmaceuticals vaccines may God keep you and your families in the palm of his healing hands

  8. All anyone has to do is Read the Ingredients in Vaccines. Why don’t Doctors inform parents of all these Toxins. We don’t know which Child is going to be effected by these Toxins at the time or Months or Years down the Road. The other Factor is the Amount of so many Vaccines given at once………it’s crazy to think these little Immune Systems can handle these in such large doses. As I’ve stated previously……..my son sustained horrible side effects from Vaccines (DPT) back in 1976……..much fewer than they give now. The Pediatrician said then……..”no more for him”………and he Never got another one. He got Chickenpox in 1983………then I got it. We both survived – and came out Immune Stronger because I knew what to do. Herbs & homeopathics are available to all Pathogens……and they work. Parents learn all you can about Prevention.

  9. Agree with previous posters. Mercury and aluminum are NEUROTOXINS. The term neurotoxicity refers to damage to the brain or peripheral nervous system. Warnings of this are actually on vaccine handouts. See this PDF online: “Aluminum in Childhood Vaccines is Unsafe.” (published in the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons Volume 21 Number 4 Winter 2016.

Published in NCHI: National Center for Biotechnology Information, U.S. National Library of Medicine: “Currently, ethylmercury (EtHg) and adjuvant-Al are the dominating interventional exposures encountered by fetuses, newborns, and infants due to immunization with Thimerosal-containing vaccines (TCVs). Despite their long use as active agents of medicines and fungicides, the safety levels of these substances have never been determined, either for animals or for adult humans—much less for fetuses, newborns, infants, and children.” SAFETY LEVELS HAVE NEVER BEEN DETERMINED!!!!

  10. The fake news media is bought and paid for by the vaccine lobby and it’s elitist owners so they will censor any discussion regarding vaccine risk and effectiveness. Now the social media propagandists are censoring that discussion as well. They all know promoting fear will override any need for debate. Their deception & brainwashing tactics have proven to be very effective in our culture. It’s all about how we feel now, not what we think. Until they are successfully sued, these discussions will continue to be snuffed out. The vaccine debaters need a high profile champion to challenge this censorship. But who wants to be the focal point of the abuse the media would inflict? Look at how they assaulted and then dismissed Robert Kennedy Jr. This is how they propose to win with no debate. The media doesn’t care about facts or scientific debate. They care only about the money. Mainstream media is a lost cause for us.

  11. I am a nurse, work in a hospital setting, and refuse even the flu vaccine every year for myself. It is mandated that I wear a mask 6 months out of the year, because I am considered a contaminate. I am required to offer my patients a flu vaccine. In which I educate best I can without jepardizing my job. I encourage patients who are curious, to look on the CDC website and investigate the ingredients of the vaccine. They can do this from their phone. My rate of giving vaccines is surely less than my co workers, and I am constantly having to defend or explain myself. Which opens the conversation to childhood vaccines in general to patients and colleagues. I usually will ask sometime in the conversation if they trust big pharma or our government for their well being?

  12. My daughter was a small baby when she became deathly ill very soon after receiving vaccinations in 1984. I called her pediatrician and she told me her very severe symptons were a natural reaction to the vaccinations and she would be better in a day or so. She was never the same. My daughter was never compensated for her ruined life, and I can’t help but wonder how many others are out there that have no idea what’s about to happen to not only their babies lives, but also the parents who will be caring for them.
