Former CDC Scientist Accused of Stealing $1 Million in Grant Money Extradited Back to U.S.

Former CDC scientist Poul Thorsen was brought back to the United States to face justice for what federal investigators say was a million-dollar fraud scheme—money that was meant to help children. The money was intended to study the relationship between vaccines and autism, it included cerebral palsy in infants, it included fetal alcohol syndrome. But instead federal officials allege Thorsen used a personal credit union account bearing the CDC’s name to funnel money to his pocket, then submitted fake invoices for research work.
