Patients Request Blood from Donors Who Have Not Received mRNA COVID-19 Shots

Patients Request Blood from Donors Who Have Not Received mRNA COVID-19 Shots

A growing number of patients are requesting blood transfusions from donors who have not gotten the COVID19 shot, according to a Mar. 28, 2026 report published in the journal Transfusion. In the report, researchers at Vanderbilt Medical Center Medical Center evaluated 15 cases over a period of two years between 2024 and 2025 in which patients requested blood from donors who had not received an mRNA COVID-19 shot.

The median age of patients was 17 and more than half were children. Of the 15 patients, 13 received at least some blood from directed donors, or donors the patients chose themselves. The hospital says these requests were a deviation from standard blood transfusion protocol and caused “care delays, escalation, and inefficiencies.”1 2

The report further notes that requests for blood transfusions from unvaccinated donors were associated with postponed or rescheduled surgeries and treatments, during which time at least two patients “clinically deteriorated” while waiting for directed donations. One patient developed anemia and another progressed to hemodynamic shock, which is a life-threatening condition caused by inadequate blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues. The Vanderbilt University authors also stated that a significant portion of collected blood units ultimately went unused.2 It is estimated that health care waste in the United States costs nearly $1 trillion annually.3

Directed donors are often family members of patients, whose blood donations can pose a serious clinical risk under certain conditions. When someone receives blood from a biological relative, the blood must undergo irradiation (exposure to controlled radiation to deactivate certain immune cells) to reduce the risk of transfusion-associated graft-versus-host disease, a rare but potentially fatal complication in which donor immune cells attack the recipient’s tissues. The study authors warn that “failure to irradiate a biologically related donor unit could have catastrophic consequences.”1 2

The Vanderbilt researchers argued that the U.S. blood supply is safe and rigorously screened for HIV and other pathogens and that, as requests for blood from donors who have not been exposed to the COVID biological continue to increase, hospitals should consider counseling patients making these requests and establishing escalation procedures (protocols elevating issues to a higher authority). “Health systems should implement standardized counseling, documentation, and escalation pathways consistent with existing guidance,” they said.1 2

Questions About mRNA COVID Biological

Requests for unvaccinated blood began shortly after the mRNA COVID biological manufactured by Pfizer and Moderna was first distributed in 2021. Over 1.6M serious adverse event reports, such as heart and brain inflammation, had been filed with the federal Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) by the end of March 2026.4 Questions about the potential for the synthetic spike protein generated by the COVID shot to stay in the body with unknown effects began to surface several years ago. Recently, independent researchers have provided evidence that in some individuals the vaccine mRNA, spike protein, and plasmid DNA is present in the body for smore than three years, prompting concerns about potential compromise of immune system function and genetic integrity.5

KFF reports that “Outside of research studies, blood centers in the U.S. don’t retain data noting whether donors have been infected with or vaccinated against COVID, and there’s no federal requirement that collected blood products be identified in that manner.” With a majority of the eligible U.S. population vaccinated, most of the nation’s blood supply now comes from donors who have received a COVID shot.1 6

Blood Collection Agencies Insist U.S. Blood Supply is Safe

Public health organizations and blood collection agencies insist that mRNA COVID shots do not negatively affect the blood supply or increase additional risks for recipients of blood transfusions. Jessa Merrill, director of Biomedical Communications at the American Red Cross, told KFF Health News, “While the antibodies that are produced by the stimulated immune system in response to vaccination are found throughout the bloodstream, the actual vaccine components are not.”6

In a 2023 joint statement, the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB), American Red Cross, and America’s Blood Centers stated that blood donations from individuals who have received a COVID shot authorized for use in the U.S. are safe for transfusion. The organizations noted that, like other vaccines, COVID shots are designed to generate an immune response and that vaccine components do not replicate through transfusions or alter a recipient’s DNA.7

No Large-Scale Studies Comparing Health Outcomes by Donor Vaccination Status

Although the organizations associated with blood transfusions have stated that there is no scientific evidence demonstrating adverse health outcomes from transfusions of blood products collected from vaccinated donors and no medical basis to distinguish or separate these donations,⁵ to date, there have been no case controlled studies and no direct, large-scale clinical research that compare long term health outcomes in patients who receive blood from vaccinated donors and those who receive blood from unvaccinated donors.

Post-authorization safety data have documented rare but serious blood-related adverse events linked to certain COVID shots. For example, following widespread rollout, certain COVID shots were linked to rare but serious clotting events, including thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS), which were initially primarily associated with adenovirus-based products such as the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. In response, federal health agencies, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), issued warnings, eventually pausing and later discontinuing administration of the J&J product in the United States. Updated guidance and labeling reflected these risks as post-authorization safety data became available.8

State Lawmakers Propose Bills Providing Access to Blood from Unvaccinated Donors

State Representative Justin Humphrey of Oklahoma introduced House Bill 3196, which proposes establishing a state-run blood bank to separately collect and store blood from donors who have not received a COVID-19 shot. Rep. Humphrey has stated that he has concerns about the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines and has said that his family members experienced COVID shot adverse effects. He said the proposal is intended to provide individuals with access to vaccine-free blood, including through private-sector options.9

“At the end of the day, I don’t want it,” Humphrey said. “I don’t want it in me. I don’t want a transfusion. I don’t want it.” Humphrey also raised concerns about availability in emergency situations. “If I’m in a wreck, if I need blood, I don’t want to wait till the last minute to know where we get COVID vaccine-free blood,” he said.⁷

Humphrey is one of several lawmakers in other states who have introduced similar proposals to mandate access to blood from unvaccinated donors. So far, none of the bills have passed.1 9

  1. Blessed by His Blood is one place where connections can be made for unvaccinated blood.

What I find ridiculous is that blood donation sites will ASK you about your covid status, but there’s NOTHING told to the recipient. Because of that, I do NOT donate blood because I don’t want to support a 1-sided informed consent scheme. Pharmaceutical companies and rich folks can (and pay) for access to unvaccinated blood, but the rest of us don’t without extra work.

I believe that this scheme is maintained for profit motives, but also to avoid liability if someone requests non-vaccinated blood and they’re given something that ends up causing problems in the recipient.

    1. There is a company called SAFEBLOOD that uses blood from unvaccinated people. I have never had the jabs because I did not believe the government and I refuse to trial any drug. So I would not want to have vaccinated blood in me. SAFEBLOOD uses donors. You register as a vaccine free blood donor and they match you to someone who needs it when they need it. This is because blood can’t be sited longer than 48 hours. It makes sense to do it this way. The more donors there are on the list, the quicker the match, the easier it is to access that unvaccinated blood. It’s brilliant! I’m on the register.

  2. I, for one, do not want to have blood from a vaccinated source either. I feel it would be wonderful to have a source available of vaccine free blood. Each blood donor should be asked it they were vaccinated and the blood should be kept separate.

  3. Oh the donated blood is safe. That’s what they said abt the dangerous jabs!!!
They haven’t learned that we don’t believe them anymore😡

  4. The people claiming the blood supply is safe…….are these the same people who promised the COVID shots were ‘safe and effective’? If it’s not, I’m guessing the same consequences will come to them as to those who made the claims about the shots. Enough said.

  5. I did not have any China virus shots, nor have I ever had the China virus. How can I donate blood to people who want clean blood?

  6. How do I donate blood that will be kept separate from those who received the mRNA COVID shot? And will that entitle me to non-mRNA blood if I need it? We are in Arizona.

Another question. If either my husband or I should need a transfusion and we both are A+ blood type, could we insist that blood from the other one is the only one acceptable to us? Neither of us received the mRNA shot.

  7. “Official announcements that blood donations from fully vaccinated and boostered people are safe are about as truthful as “the vaccines are safe and effective”. The people making these statements clearly are lying because they actually don’t know and are told to say that to promote public acceptance in the same way they lie about the jabs, even though the evidence , the data disproves their assertions.

  8. The US does not screen their blood for Lyme Disease.
Farmers have reported boxes of ticks have been dropped on their property.
Now there is a new vaccine for Lyme.
    Where is the FBI?

In my area, the place that buys blood and plasma has a lot of homeless and drug addicts that go there to get money. Who would want their blood, or blood with SV-40, lipid nanoparticles, spike proteins, mRNA, e-coli, any of 8 snake venoms, and a buffer traded out at the last minute called Tromethamine, causing interference with insulin production, antibiotics, kidney failure, anaphylaxis and blood clots?

    1. Pamela, have you read the book “Bitten: The Secret History of Lyme Disease and Biological Weapons” by Kris Newby? I lived in Hamilton Montana in the Bitterroot Valley where Rocky Mountain Lab, a level 4 biohazard lab, has been working since the early 1900’s. This book is an eye opener for anyone. Doctors used to say Lyme Disease didn’t exist here. Once you read this book, you will realize that it certainly does and what the farmers say is true. Fauci visited this lab multiple times over the years. My husband and I were fortunate to move to the most NW county in Montana last year to be around more like minded people and away from that lab.

    2. Please site your source about the ticks being dumped on farmers land? I would not be surprised, but I would also like to know where it’s happening thanks.

  9. Actually, The last sentence of the article is not accurate. In March, Idaho became the first state in the nation to pass a law which ensures that patients and their doctor together will decide if direct donor blood is appropriate for that patient. Idaho’s HB528 (sponsored by Representative Chris Bruce) is the first, and there are at least 18 states working on similar legislation.
Our nonprofit organization (www.blessedbyhisblood.com) has been working on protecting patient rights through legislation as well as direct donor / recipient matching since 2022.

  10. I don’t want blood from vaccinated people at all. I have included this information in my Health directive and to my executor accodingly. Federal health agencies have no large scale studies just like they did not for the vaccine itself. I pray I will never need to deal with this nightmare.

    1. I hear you. I don’t want blood from vaccinated people at all. I had to be very firm when I told EMT no blood transfusions at all during my trip to ER by ambulance. I also declined IV sedation in order for me to stay alert.

  11. O positive pureblood.

Am I living with a gold mine I’m not aware of?

Going to immediately have primary care doctor add this request to my health directive.

Had figured that if an upcoming surgery required any blood, I’d simply have them take my own blood ahead of time and reserve this just for me exclusively.

In the early days of disclosure some blood bank people were supposedly holding up vaccinated vs unvaccinated blood bags and there were obvious differences in texture and color.

  12. SafeBlood.com. From their site: SafeBlood is a grassroots effort revolutionizing blood donation by connecting Covid-19 unvaccinated blood donors with those in their own communities who need blood transfusions. Safe Blood members are here for each other when we need each other most.

      1. Look at the website. Unfortunately they say you should not barter or get paid for donating blood. That’s when I closed the site down. If I’m going out of my way to give safe blood, considering the hell and high water we went through to stay unvaccinated, we deserve some fair compensation. At least enough to buy a pack of ribeyes to replenish our lost nutrient in our own blood. Minimum hundred dollars. That site looks really interesting, but they need to reconsider their strategy.

  13. This statement from this article is completely false and a lie: “Outside of research studies, blood centers in the U.S. don’t retain data noting whether donors have been infected with or vaccinated against COVID, and there’s no federal requirement that collected blood products be identified in that manner.”
When I gave blood in the Keys in Florida in 2024 to the state owned blood mobile, I had to complete a computerized form that asked the questions; 1) Have you ever had HIV or HIV drugs; 2) Have you been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. The form would not move forward unless these questions were answered. If you did not answer you could not give blood. Obviously there is and was concern of the safety of Covid vaccines, and this data was recorded.

  14. I have not had any vaccines for almost 40 years. Yet the Red Cross refused to allow me to donate my healthy O Pos blood because I happened to be living in England for 8 months when there was an outbreak of Mad Cow disease!

  15. I am a very healthy 82 yr old, one vaccine in my life 1970 for travel to Japan, none before or after. Refused ALL Covid pressure. I want to know if I would qualify as a donor to peope who need mu Aneg blood or does my age disqualify me?

  16. Is there a test that can determine the presence of the spike protein? That is the critical question. Saying that our blood supply is safe is like saying vaccines are safe and effective. Where is the proof?

  17. My 69 year old brother has been living with stage 4 metastatic renal cell carcinoma for 7 years. No Covid vaccine after, thankfully, listening to his younger RN sister (me). When he required a major surgery in 2025 that may have required a blood transfusion, his wife, being AB- a universal doner, asked to give blood in case he needed a transfusion. The doctor told he no, there’d be too many hoops to jump through. I won’t go into our conversation as it held too many strong words about this so called doctor but after she and he insisted either her blood or from one of the other sites that offered pure blood, his doctor agreed. No one, absolutely no one, should have to fight for quality care!

    1. I agree! I had to do the same for my twins when one needed blood. The staff told me they don’t let people donate to a loved one since the blood supply is safe. But even with HIV there is a window that they could have contracted HIV and it would not show up in the blood. Their dad and I both had the same blood type match for my twins and we were both RH neg. The pediatric doctor told me we certainly could donate and they sat it up for us but the hospital did not like that.

  18. We asked this question back in 2021 and health professionals at the hospital were surprised. I have a question though; why would blood from a relative need to be a irradiated if they were the same blood type but not blood from a stranger? Couldn’t I have a reaction to the strangers blood just as strongly as a relative’s blood as long as they are the same blood type it should be OK. I have never heard of not being able to take a relatives blood without a radiating at first, what’s the story?

  19. Perhaps Florida is a frontrunner in blood collection. They are certainly on the ball in other ways, politically.

I had heard that even though the blood collectors ask, it doesn’t make a difference, and it isn’t recorded as coming from a COVID-19 vaccinated individual (in general, at large). I am skeptical to say the least.

I do know the last time I gave blood at a bloodmobile, they were still collecting it from people who admitted to having HIV. Because of privacy issues, they didn’t want to single anyone out as being unable to donate. I think the HIV infected blood was discarded later.

Thank you for reminding me to update my advance directives. I will not give blood again until I know for certain that it is being kept separate from the vaccinated blood supply. I no longer easily believe anything I’m told by health authorities. I am a pureblood.

  20. AND this pack of lies coming from the same people that still say the COVID jab is SAFE and EFFECTIVE when anyone with half a brain cell left knows this is not true. Know who your friends and family are and discuss becoming donors for each other should the need arise. Do it before you need it so there is no delay. Personally, I would not take my dog to Vanderbilt and I live in Tennessee.

  21. Before Covid, I had to do the same for my twins when one needed blood.
They need to do testing for the spike protein in donated blood- it makes sense to me that it would be in the donated blood of a vaccination person.

I don’t believe a word our government says, they also said the spike protein would not get into your DNA but it does and then multiples causing all the trouble with organs and heart, clots etc. Thank the Good Lord Jesus- I never took the shot and none of my kids either!

  22. Word to the wise. Have your own human blood bag on speed dial. You can’t trust any thing they give you. They lie.

  23. If you have not been vaccinated, can you simply have them take your own blood ahead of time if you know you may be having a surgery that might require blood?

Vaccinated or not I don’t want anyone elses blood inside of me in the first place.

  24. I can’t believe this. A great testimony that i must share to all HERPES patient in the world i never believed that their could be any complete cure for HERPES or any cure for HERPES,i saw people’s testimony on blog sites of how DR Aba prepare herbal cure and brought them back to life again. i had to try it too and you can,t believe that in just few weeks i started using it all my pains stop gradually and i had to leave without the HERPES DRUGS the doctor gave to me. Right now i can tell you that few months now i have not had any pain,Here is his email [email protected] his WHATSAPP number is +2348107155060….
