There’s been a revolution in nutrition science recognizing that we have been misled with 60 years of dogma that has determined that we need to have a myopic focus on demonizing fat, for example. We now know that that’s not true. The field of nutrition has matured to recognize now the importance of protein, so today’s new nutrition guidance increases the protein recommendation by 50 to 100 percent. It shouldn’t be at a level so you just don’t wither away. We want Americans to thrive. You need amino acids, and you don’t have protein reserves in your body like you do for glycogen and fatty acids in the liver. And so when you don’t get enough protein, you have muscle wasting.

I love how it’s taken the rest of the world decades to catch up to what those of us with brains have known about nutrition for what seems like forever… And NO shot of ANY kind offers “protection”, much less decades of it. Ridiculous. And is this the new Don Lemon? Ugh…
The nutrition guidelines show the imprint of industry influence. It both surprises and saddens me how so many in the health freedom movement — who see how industry has influenced guidelines for things like vaccines, are unable to recognize a similar dynamic when it comes to the new nutrition guidelines.
There is nothing new about celebrating animal protein — that’s how things were for a long time (before the last few decades) and I watched how well that type of dietary pattern worked for so many in my extended family…most of whom died quite prematurely from heart disease. Thankfully my parents were fortunate enough to become educated by the work of Dr. T Colin Campbell (author of the China Study — the largest and longest epidemiological study of dietary patterns) and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn (author of Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease). Though both of these doctors grew up in the early part of last century and were even raised on Dairy Farms, and passionately believed that meat and dairy were healthy — their view changed when their own scientific studies and clinical experience forced them to see that truth — that animal protein was a major driver of both heart disease and cancer. I personally know many people who lived into their 90s AFTER being diagnosed in middle age with heart disease and or cancer — they did this by eliminating all meat/dairy/eggs– and most oils, and adopting a whole-food-plant-based dietary pattern.
It’s not just the health freedom movement that has fallen for industry propaganda — the plant-based movement too — shows exactly the same type of naivete — except that their blind spot is vaccines — though I give credit to Dr. T Colin Campbell — he at least has always truly been open to following the evidence — even when it is at odds with most of his peers. Campbell publicly disclosed that he did NOT get the jab — and when he and his wife developed COVID — at the ages of 90 — not only did they recover without incident, but he went on to publish data suggesting that a whole food plant based diet could be protective from harm in the event of encountering a viral pathogen.
