Dr. Fauci Became a Multi-Millionaire While Heading Up a Federal Health Agency

Tony Fauci

After retiring as the director of the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) last year, Anthony Fauci, MD reported a net household worth of $11.5 million. This included the net worth of his wife Christine Grady, chief bioethicist at NIH. Dr. Fauci’s termination report showed that the couple’s wealth increased by nearly $2 million dollars during the COVID-19 pandemic.1 2

According to Adam Andrzejewski, CEO and founder of the Chicago-based nonprofit OpenTheBooks, which analyzed Dr. Fauci’s finances:

During the pandemic years, the Fauci’s became deca-millionaires with their household net worth exceeding $10 million. Last year was a tough year in the markets. However, Fauci’s net worth is still up sharply from $7.6 million in 2019.3

The Fauci fortune came largely from investments, awards, royalties and salary increases. Dr. Fauci said that all money he received from royalties goes to charities.4 He received approximately $1 million in prizes from nonprofit organizations, including the Dan David Foundation of Israel, from which he received $901,400 for “defending science” and “speaking truth to power.”5

Dr. Fauci, who worked for both the Trump and Biden administrations, was the highest paid federal employee during the pandemic, earning more than both presidents and retiring with a government salary of approximately $481,000.6 Additionally, Dr. Fauci received the highest federal retirement package awarded in the history of the U.S. government. His pension the first year alone is estimated to have exceeded $414,000, and that amount is expected to exceed half a million dollars the following year.7

Financial Security of Many Americans Took a Hit During Pandemic

The financial disclosures by Dr. Fauci have been met with  criticism, particularly in light of pandemic response recommendations he made as the White House’s chief medical advisor that led to the federal government and states imposing extended lockdowns, which shut down businesses and schools and told people to stay home and “shelter in place.” It has become clearer that those public health policy recommendations seriously harmed the U.S. economy, the mental and physical well-being of children and adults,  and the financial security of many Americans.

In January 2020, the U.S. economy was showing robust growth and the unemployment rate stood at 3.5 percent. Consumer spending was up 0.2 percent and incomes increased by 0.6 percent. In April 2020, Just a little over a month into the shutdowns, the unemployment rate surged to 14.7 percent.8 In March, 2021, a year into the shutdowns, unemployment was at 6.2 percent, still almost double pre COVID pandemic response shutdown levels.9

Nearly One-Quarter of U.S. Households Lost Entire Savings During COVID Lockdowns

A Robert Woods Johnson Foundation and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health poll conducted in the fall of 2021 found that nearly 20 percent of U.S. households lost their entire savings during implementation of public health policy lockdowns recommended by Dr. Fauci. For Americans earning less than $50,000, some 30 percent of them lost their savings due to the federal government’s stay at home policies.10

A survey conducted by T. Rowe Price found that just under 70 percent of respondents said that their finances were negatively impacted by COVID due to reduced hours, lay-offs and an overall decrease in income.11

  1. The bottom line is Dr. Fauci is a criminal, period. He needs to be held accountable for those damages he had caused during the pandemic lockdown. It seems to be a reasonable logic hard working people have lost their jobs or got poorer while Dr. Fauci got richer.

  2. politicians and beauracrats most of them are on the take. They aren’t paid enough to be worth millions but tend to become millionaires while “serving”. Corruption abounds! But lest we pick out the speck in others eyes, we all like government handouts and “free” services, lotteries, etc. We are a nation eaten up with greed.

  3. The worst of it isn’t even the economic disaster of the lockdowns. It’s that bad advice from the CDC and NIH caused deaths or serious long term chronic illness to those who were placed on ventilators, babies from the pandemic lost 20 IQ points due to masking obscuring human faces, among other things, and the vaccine has been shown to create blood clots (including deadly pulmonary embolli, strokes and other blood clot related serious health situations if not deaths) mycarditis, and how many young people’s lives have been cut short since when they’ve died of sudden heart attacks? And when is he going to be taken to task for using US taxpayer funds in the form of grants to the Wuhan labs to do research that was deemed unethical in the US, therefore banned, on “gain of function studies”? He caused the pandemic, whether directly or indirectly, he has and continues to have kickbacks from the so-called vaccine(s) and now is retiring with almost a half million per year pension – not to mention other consideration for speaking engagements and books…it is criminal. But if one is high enough in the US government, one gets away with murder – even genocide.

  4. I hope to see him in orange and at hard labor for the rest of his days right along with the Biden bunch and the criminals at the FBI, CIA and the Federal Reserve. The criminality is pernicious and pervasive throughout the entire government. I trust none of them as graft is the by-word of the day! Remember, they work for us but, they believe themselves to be royalty while Americans live on the street and working class folk live pay check to pay check. The lot of them have stolen us blind. We must VOTE for a Strong Leader with the huevos to try the lot them and if found guilty for their subversion they must forfeit the stolen wealth in whatever form they’ve sheltered in and, spend their days in prison with the other thieves, rapists, and murders!

  5. 1) There are no actual anti-vaxxer activists who comment here; they are all fake right-wing/russian/chinese bots using the vaccine debate to divide, toxify and tear down American institutions and government. Ignore all the other commenters except for me because I’m the only actual antivaxxer activist here.

    2) Republicans are to blame for vaccine injuries. It all began with the “Reagan Revolution” of the 80s. Republicans gained power and completely swamped all federal regulatory agencies with private business insiders. They did this for two reasons: to sell out to business interests for campaign cash and to prove government doesn’t work by sabotaging it. The 80s are the era of the VICP (that indemnified pharma from legal liability from vaccine injury), the vast expansion of the vaccine schedule for children, and a major escalation in the number of vaccine injuries. Thanks a lot Republicans.

    3) Democrats are not to blame for vaccine injuries. They simply trust professional opinion from regulatory institutions. They are simply ignorant of vaccine injury. They are as ignorant as you and I were before we personally experienced vaccine injury and autism in our families. They believe in doctors and vaccines as much as you and I did before we personally experienced vaccine injury and autism in our families. Nobody knows more about the vaccine issue than those of us who have experienced personal vaccine injury and autism in our families. Nobody has done the amount of research and study than we have. Doctors don’t even know as much as we do. You cannot expect Democratic polticians to have done that kind of research when most doctors haven’t.

Drain the swamp. Fire all Republicans. Staff regulatory agencies with actual medical professionals instead of industry insiders.
