What’s Wrong With ‘Religious Exemption’?

tearing up the Constitution

My article below challenges the prevalent assumption that the state may mandate vaccination. I am NOT anti-vax, but just anti-coercion and pro-bodily-autonomy. If you find this view offensive or disturbing and would like to continue living in blissful ignorance while the very underpinnings of free society are under attack, then please don’t read this.

There’s something deeply troubling about the whole debate over “religious exemption” from mandatory vaccination. It avoids the real elephant in the room. Who granted the government the authority to mandate vaccination in the first place? What happened to bodily autonomy?

Some point to the fact that the state doesn’t coerce anyone to vaccinate, and as such, doesn’t technically violate anyone’s autonomy. Of course, this is a specious argument. Mandatory vaccination effectively bars a child from school. Depriving a child of an education is coercive. Education is a right, not a privilege.

For a working single mother, homeschooling is simply not an option. For many couples who both work, staying home to homeschool children condemns their family to indigence. This “non-compulsory” law forces them to choose between vaccination and poverty.

How can free society tolerate such cruel and intolerant policy?

Some folks argue that personal freedoms must be restricted (read: violated) when there’s a public safety risk. Their reasoning: measles can be deadly, and an unvaccinated child is at greater risk to contracting the dreaded disease and spreading it further to others. Since this child arguably poses a risk to the community, they argue, he may be barred from the public whose safety we are trying to safeguard.

The problem is that infringing on individual’s rights in the name of public welfare is a risky business. We’re treading on thin ice, constitutionally-speaking.

Let’s first assess the actual risk that this one child poses. She is presently healthy, indistinguishable from a vaccinated child. The fear is that there is a higher statistical possibility that she may contract an infectious disease.

This reasoning might also lead us to conclude that children from ethnicities who have higher incidents of juvenile delinquency may be barred from society too. After all, a student from such ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds surely increases the statistical risk for school violence.

Muslim children may be barred from schools too, since they are certainly at higher risk of radicalization and jihadism. Where do we draw the line? Is the threat of measles more lethal than that of school shootings or suicide bombings?

Nevertheless, irrational fear of disease seems to provide an excuse to curtail individual freedoms more so than other security or safety concerns.

The loudest voices in our society justify the banning of the unvaccinated due to public safety risk. Public health outweighs an individual’s rights, they argue. I’d assume these same people enthusiastically support the NSA (National Security Agency) recording our conversations and so-called concentration camps at the border, both of which supposedly exist to protect the public.

However, that’s not the case. These same outspoken proponents of mandatory vaccination are oddly silent when it comes to the state suspending other civil liberties. Instead, they often protest these government abuses, yet nod in approval when unvaccinated children are barred from school.

[Even more inexplicably, they’ll clamor for the rights of unvaccinated migrants (and their unimpeded integration into American society) yet advocate sequestering unvaccinated children of U.S. citizens.]

So I ask them: why do you believe individuals are any less entitled to medical freedom than they are freedom of mobility, speech, or expression?

You’ll fight for a woman’s right to wear hijabs, in spite of the conceivable possibility that she’s hiding a weapon underneath, but have no qualms forcing her to submit to bodily injection in the name of preventing potential harm to the public!

You deplore “apartheid” policies that exclude Arabs from crossing a border to mitigate security risks, but cheer when unvaccinated children are shunned from the public, banned from school, treated as pariahs and untouchables… all because they supposedly pose a public health risk!

I’ll be the simple son and ask the obvious question: why is this apartheid different from all other apartheids?

When [New York City] fines people for not complying with mandatory MMR (mumps, measles, rubella) [vaccination], you cite an increased risk of measles from the unvaccinated population. Yet you deplore racial profiling and police’s biased attitude towards minorities, even though there’s an increased risk of violent offenders coming from that same minority population.

You have zero tolerance for bias against black people but plenty of tolerance for bias against unvaccinated people.

You’ll champion a woman’s inviolable right to consent yet turn a blind eye when teen-age girls are penetrated with an intravenous needle under duress! Poked and force-injected with someone else’s bodily fluid (i.e. that of aborted babies, not to mention monkeys and other mammals)!

You’ll stand up for a woman’s choice to kill her nine-month-old fetus but reject her choice to decline the Hepatitis-B vaccine for that same baby one day later!

Why the double standards? Why are you okay with infringing on individual’s civil liberties only with regards to vaccines? Who gave the state exclusive rights to our bloodstreams!?

It’s irrelevant that there’s a vaccinating majority. Since when do we condone dictatorship of the majority?

We simply cannot tolerate such egregious violations of individual citizens’ rights. There’s too much at stake. Bodily autonomy is sacrosanct. An individual’s right to medical choice is inviolable. This is the U.S.A., land of the free!

Not only may we not force-vaccinate anyone, neither may we ostracize them for not being vaccinated. That’s Jim Crow laws revisited.

We may not bar children from schools. It’s no different than barring blacks from schools for phony excuse of “keeping the neighborhood safe.”

Unvaccinated children are just as human as your own, and they are entitled to an education! A school that will not accommodate all healthy children should not be allowed to accommodate any children. There can be no tolerance for such discriminatory policies in free society.

So that brings me back to my problem with “religious exemption.” Why does anyone need an “exemption” in the first place? Any person should be fully entitled to decline ANY medical procedure, no questions asked.

The state may enforce seatbelts, motor-vehicle or aviation safety, consumer protection, etc., but they may not force-medicate healthy individuals. That’s a red line that must never be crossed.

Years ago, while we weren’t paying attention, the government insidiously usurped our freedoms by enforcing mandatory vaccination policy, while tossing us a conciliatory doggy bone, so-called “religious exemption.” That enabled individuals to decline, but for specifically-religious reasons only.

Shockingly, “non-religious” individuals were never afforded such a “privilege.” Moreover, an individual could only cite uniquely-religious reasons, and was often harassed by his own coreligionists who disputed his right to his own religious beliefs!

Fast-forward to the present. Now we have an outrageous situation in which self-proclaimed religious experts ridiculously profess expertise on every known religion on earth. These so-called spiritual leaders claim that there are no valid religious reasons for declining vaccination ever.

New York state legislators were only too eager to follow suit and eliminated religious exemption altogether, banning some 35,000+ children from school in one fell swoop.

What is the reaction from the freedom-loving people of New York State? Silence, complacency, and indifference.

Shameful, appalling and deplorable.

Truth is, however, that the population has been unsuspectingly indoctrinated over the course of many years, ever since mandatory vaccination was introduced, even throughout the time that religious exemption had been honored.

Zealous efforts to ensure “herd immunity” have led to “herd thinking.” No one is permitted to question the state-imposed vaccination paradigm. My goodness, independent thinking is viewed as a “public health risk” and suppressed! Anyone who questions the state’s mandate to vaccinate the population is roundly tarred and feathered in the name of “protecting public health.”

Despite their best of intentions, the champions of “public health” have sadly trampled our First Amendment rights in the process.

My friends, it’s time to take back the narrative and reclaim our autonomy. Your body belongs to you and you alone. No one may dictate what you inject into yourself.

Doctors may encourage vaccination, and surely you ought to consider their advice and possibly comply, but that is YOUR decision and no one else’s.

Yes, it’s possible that if the unvaccinated population increases, some diseases might return. Unfortunately, there’s nothing you can do about that short of vaccinating yourself and your own children.

We may NOT vaccinate other people’s children. If we allow that, then we are no longer a free country, but a police state. We will have lost everything.

As Patrick Henry famously cried, “Give me liberty or give me death.” Is measles worse than death?

(Parenthetically, has there been even one death in the recent measles outbreak in the U.S.? 1,203 cases so far this year, but not a single fatality. Please remind me why measles is so dreaded…)

I’d rather deal with measles than with a dystopian police state, the risk we take if we don’t stymie the government’s efforts to restrict our free choice and bodily autonomy.

Let’s review the opening lines of the Nuremburg Code: The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential.

This means that the person involved should have legal capacity to give consent; should be so situated as to be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, over-reaching, or other ulterior form of constraint or coercion; and should have sufficient knowledge and comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved, as to enable him to make an understanding and enlightened decision.

Vaccination ought to be a matter of “enlightened decision,” not a “forced” decision made “under duress” by “overreaching” government. Barring children from school amounts to coercion and cannot be tolerated.

Let’s all wake up now before it’s too late. Yes, religious freedom is under attack in the Empire State and throughout the country.

Under the law, religion is defined as “personal, strongly held beliefs,” not necessarily related to organized religion. It’s no coincidence that our Founding Fathers enshrined it in the very first amendment.

When government attempts to tamper with it, all freedom is lost. It is the beginning and end to our cherished liberties, and we cannot afford to lose them.

We already began to forfeit our freedoms when we tolerated state-imposed mandatory vaccine schedule.

Religious freedom is our last stand, so to say. It’s time for every freedom-loving citizen to stand up to defend it, irrespective of one’s opinions on vaccines.

This is not about vaccines. It’s about preserving the essence of who we are as a nation. G-d bless America, and G-d bless our freedoms.

  1. I’m just going to touch on several of the codes but I encourage everyone to read them. This article is from the New England Journal of Medicine. https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJM199711133372006

    *The Nuremberg Code*

*1. The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential. *
This means that the person involved should have legal capacity to give consent; should be so situated as to be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, overreaching, or other ulterior form of constraint or coercion; and should have sufficient knowledge and comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved as to enable him to make an understanding and enlightened decision. This latter element requires that before the acceptance of an affirmative decision by the experimental subject there should be made known to him the nature, duration, and purpose of the experiment; the method and means by which it is to be conducted; all inconveniences and hazards reasonably to be expected; and the effects upon his health or person which may possibly come from his participation in the experiment.

The duty and responsibility for ascertaining the quality of the consent rests upon each individual who initiates, directs or engages in the experiment. It is a personal duty and responsibility which may not be delegated to another with impunity.
(This is self-explanatory. CONSENT and Informed Consent on top of that)

    2. The experiment should be such as to yield fruitful results for the good of society, unprocurable by other methods or means of study, and not random and unnecessary in nature.
(There isn’t a single study in the world that can provide scientific evidence which can prove that disease reduction in any part of the world, at any point in history was attributable to inoculation of populations)

    4. The experiment should be so conducted as to avoid all unnecessary physical and mental suffering and injury.

    5. No experiment should be conducted where there is an a priori reason to believe that death or disabling injury will occur; except, perhaps, in those experiments where the experimental physicians also serve as subjects.
(I like the fact that the code states that physicians should also serve as test subjects)

    9. During the course of the experiment the human subject should be at liberty to bring the experiment to an end if he has reached the physical or mental state where continuation of the experiment seems to him to be impossible.

It has been proven that there are NO Randomized Double Blind Placebo Controlled Safety Pre-Licensing safety studies performed on the vaccines on the childhood schedule as mandated by the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Compensation Act. HHS has been in violation of 42 U.S.C. § 300aa-31 which mandated HHS and gave primary and virtually sole responsibility to make and assure improvements in the licensing, manufacturing, adverse reaction reporting, research, safety and efficacy testing of vaccines in order to reduce the risk of adverse vaccine reactions. In order to assure HHS meets its vaccine safety obligations, Congress required as part of the 1986 Act that the Secretary of HHS submit a biennial reports to Congress detailing the improvements in vaccine safety made by HHS in the preceding two years. A lawsuit was filed in 2018 by the ICAN for copies off all safety studies, test, reports-everything HHS and its departments had. The result of the lawsuit is that HHS had to finally and shockingly admit that it never, not even once, submitted a single biennial report to Congress detailing the improvements in vaccine safety.

The World has been the subject of a massive experiment by not only the pharmaceutical industry but by governments around the globe.

    1. Where is the American Civil Liberties Union on all of this? The right to our bodies is the most important issue to defend.

      1. I have asked the same question. Also where are the ACLU, the Civil Rights Commission, Center for Constitutional Rights and other groups that are suppose to protect the rights of Americans.

    2. YES, YES AND YES!!!! Mandatory injections are completely against what we all believe America stands for!! It gives me a gut ache, and is why I’m politically involved in this since mid August. Thank you for your straight forward response.

    1. “The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential.” This is most certainly not true since half the boys born in American have their healthy foreskins amputated without any consent from the patient. The first thing to do is ban the genital mutilation of all children – not just girls.

      1. Parents are suppose to have the right to make autonomous medical decisions for minor children and unfortunately most parents chose this procedure. Like vaccines many parents believe that circumcision is a simple way to prevent infections. Some of it’s cultural and some of it is misinformation. That would be a tough law to pass.

      2. You’re so correct, male GM should be outlawed, because it’s irreversible & a non-medical decision made by non-medical parents on a usually non-anesthetized, helpless baby. Similar situation to abortion. Cruel & damaging. Viagra sales totally flopped in Europe, because the vast majority of men are not circumcised. In US, it’s big business for the 30 million men with ED, mostly caused by this unnecessary amputation.

  3. “There is abundant science out there that connects mercury exposure in vaccines to not only autism, but to ASD, to SIDS, to ADD, ADHD, language tics – which is like Tourette Syndrome – OCD, asthma, food allergies, and diabetes.” Robert Kennedy, Jr.

  4. Thank you for addressing the hypocrisy and irrationality of the left. They are behind this push to control not only your body but your entire life cradle to grave. They champion “my body my choice” to abort a fetus but choice is restricted in regards to vaccination.
The fight for liberty is greater than vaccines. The intolerance of the left has divided us so sharply that we are forced to make very tough decisions today. I’m on this for the long hall and barring serious disease or accident I’ve got many decades left in this fight.

    1. Let us not make this a “left” vs. “right” issue in politics. Both the republicans and the democrats are pushing vaccines on the people of this and other nations. Although, this is a political issue in that the politicians are writing these laws, this happens to be an issue where both sides agree that BigPharma should make more money and we should have less freedom of choice.

  5. “Bodily autonomy is sacrosanct. An individual’s right to medical choice is inviolable. This is the U.S.A., land of the free!” Bodily autonomy is certainly not sacrosanct – at least not in the United States. About half the boys born in this country have their penises needlessly mutilated for no better reason than parental whim. The first thing to do is ban the circumcision of all children. Genital cutting is immoral and medically unethical.

  6. What I always find interesting about the argument that a non-vaccinated person poses a risk to the general public is this:
If the general public has been vaccinated and that works so well–which is what people making this argument believe–then the only person that could be at risk would be the person that is not vaccinated. So how is that a public risk? Has the general public lost the ability to apply logic?
My kids haven’t been vaccinated in years and the only people that puts at risk is them and I believe that I have enough God-given sense to weigh that risk against the risks of the vaccines and make a decision that’s best for them–I thought that’s what it means to be a parent.

  7. ALL vaccines are toxic. ALL vaccines contain poison. NO ONE has the right to force poison you thru vaccination or any other means. Period NEVER has even on vaccine been proven safe through placebo contriolled double blind studies using an INERT placebo. To date, all placebo’s have contained ALL of the toxins in the vaccine, minus the antigen. We have all bee lied to and duped by our politicians and the pharma industry that supports them. We must, and I mean MUST, stop mandatory vaccination at any and all costs. Vaccines are literally destroying the brains, blood, organs, and bodies of our children. Our civilization is at risk due to this ongoing illegal, immoral, and murderous holocaust.

  8. Michael, I appreciate your passion for bodily autonomy. I also agree that we should have the fundamental right to decide what medical procedures we take in and for our bodies. In that same vein, we should have the fundamental right AND privilege to decide about our children’s education.

I believe that education is a privilege. Public school is not seen as a right; it’s seen as mandatory. Ask parents who homeschool in most of the 50 states–they are required to file SOME sort of documentation with the local school to prove that they are educating their OWN children. (In other words, a type of “exemption” from public school…) The state sees education as ITS right to our children. The state plays its role in teaching our children to follow the so-called herd mentality. If you haven’t read anything about the public school beginnings, there are some great history books out there about it. There is an agenda to lead the public’s thinking through so-called education. (Check out John Taylor Gatto’s “The Underground History of American Education: A School Teacher’s Intimate Investigation Into the Problem of Modern Schooling” )

While homeschooling may not work with everyone’s lifestyle, I would maintain that the education of children should be the parents’ right to decide about…just like vaccination. If a parent doesn’t want to go along with the state’s ideas about vaccination, they give up their rights to utilize the state education system. I’m okay with that. I’d prefer the state to keep their hands off of myself and my children. I prefer to maintain my parental rights.

    With Much Respect!

    1. Good for you, Homeschooling Mama. My wife is a homeschooling Mama too, and I’m a homeschooling Papa 🙂 Thank you for making this important comment. Actually, I just explained my statement “Education is a right” below, to another person named Corey.

  9. Unfortunately we are again victims of artful language, deception and the plans of psychopaths. Religious anything is a joke in the USA, and it has nothing to do with the canard of separation of church and state (a lie, the state became the clergy and the religion) and everything to do with the distinction between religious freedom and freedom of religion, which are both defined legal.terms that do not mean what they mean in common vulgar argot or common everyday speech. In fact nothing in law (legalism) does, thos is why people cannot figure out they are in an open air debtors prison called hell. I encourage everyone to consume as much of Clint Richardson’s amd Patrick Jordan’s material as possible, they appear to be among the very few not caught in a weaponized dialectic of pro vaxx anti vaxx non sense. Also any.of Clint’s blogs or radio shows that deal with the biological warfare code in USC, title 50 I think. They can experiment on you, read the exemptions. Open air debtors prison.

  10. Poked and force-injected with someone else’s bodily fluid (i.e. that of aborted babies, not to mention monkeys and other mammals)!
I wonder if people KNOW this ! I have several vegetarian friends who probably do not realize their children are injected with all this.
I wonder if non vegetarian people realize what crap sits in most vaccines, and at what rate these vaccines protect (or do not protect)
Just as stated, most people have no idea there are no safety tests done on vaccines over time, so we don’t know if they harm or not. I am not against vaccination either, I had several myself, but I think 72 vaccinations in 18 years is just too much.
the people who want to vaccinate, okay, they are at liberty to do so, but they should not force others to do so too. Since they are all vaccinated why do they fear the non vaccinated ones? They are safe or what ? Or do they doubt the vaccinations after all, and are they afraid that one or two unvaccinated children will harm all their vaccinated children? That is the biggest farce of all ! They should not be afraid, because no harm can come to them, or can there….

  11. If Vaccines are so effective then why should anyone care if someone else is not vaccinated!! They always point to those who cannot be vaccinated. It is a good thing that the compromised do Not get vaccinated. They will have a chance at being healthier. Hospitals and Clinics have signs posted saying if you have been vaccinated recently to not come into the areas. They know that vaccines do shed and threaten the compromised as well. The fact is that the unvaccinated are healthier than the vaccinated. It is all about the mighty dollar that big pharma greedily wants and does not care who they injure in the process. If they REALLY want to help they should be putting their efforts behind informing everyone about good, clean, healthy, real, unadulterated Food.

  12. Very well said. Thank you for writing this article. I hope as many people as possible will read these words of wisdom.

  13. “The rights of the individual are not derived from governmental agencies, either municipal, state or federal, or even from the Constitution. They exist inherently in every man, by endowment of the Creator, and are merely reaffirmed in the Constitution, and restricted only to the extent that they have been voluntarily surrendered by the citizenship to the agencies of government. The people’s rights are not derived from the government, but the government’s authority comes from the people. The Constitution but states again these rights already existing, and when legislative encroachment by the nation, state, or municipality invade these original and permanent rights, it is the duty of the courts to so declare, and to afford the necessary relief.” CITY OF DALLAS v. MITCHELL, 245 S.W. 944 (Tex. Civ. App. 1922)

  14. A child who is positive for hepatitis B infection cannot be discriminated against and must be allowed in school, but a healthy child who has every required vaccine except for hepatitis B (as was the case recently for one of my children) is barred from school attendance. If the first is not a public health threat, how can the second one be? And if the second “unvaccinated” child is not a public health threat, then he is being discriminated against, and his civil rights are being violated. You are right, Rabbi Green, this is not about religious rights, it’s about civil rights.

  15. My question is, why isn’t the writer of this article anti-vax? Considering the amount of toxic chemicals and macerated animal organs that are in vaccines, and considering the damage they do, how can any intelligent person possibly not be anti vaccines? In 1986 when Congress decided to pass a bill preventing people from suing vaccine companies because at the time they were on the brink of being sued out of existence, Congress formed the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program where people damaged by vaccines could file claims. Even though the government makes it next to impossible for people to prove their case, over $4 billion has been paid out to victims. One can only imagine how many vaccine-damaged people exist in this country who have never filed a claim because it is too difficult to do so. The vaccine religion has a death grip on this country to the tune of billions of dollars a year in profit for Big Pharma. And anyone who believes Big Pharma exists in order to benefit the health of human beings is not paying attention. Opioids anyone?

  16. Education is not only a right it is compulsory. So if your child is refused admittance to a public school, unless you have the means to arrange private tutoring or home school, you will be in violation of the law and subject to having your children taken by the very state that put them in jeopardy in the first place.

  17. Great points. The whole thing boils down to whether we live in a democracy or a fascist country.
The people who abuse their power want “herd thought”, not individual thinking. Pharmaceutical companies want to sell more products and they do it through fear and misinformation. If you create fear in people, then demonize anyone who disagrees with the herd thought, there is no room for dissenting opinions particularly when you censor any other views. I believe in personal choice. I do not believe in vaccines at all but if someone else wants to they can get their shots.

  18. I follow Christ and I’m a member of the Crystal Cathedral Church. Some vaccines have aborted fetus cells and that’s an abomination to the Holy Spirit. I post the following on any story on the internet about vaccines. Thank you. Amen.
    PHARMACEUTICALS AND VACCINES

This is a summary and food for thought for pharmaceuticals and vaccines.
    1. All pharmaceuticals and vaccines compromise the immune system and have side effects.
    2. A vaccine may be effective creating antibodies, but it doesn’t mean it will protect you from getting sick. That is why people who get measles or flu vaccine get sick. People who don’t vaccinate is not the reason.
    3. Our government and the Supreme Court knows that vaccines aren’t safe. The VAERS program was set up for people who are damaged to sue our government. So far, 4 billion dollars has been paid out. That is a small fraction of people who have been damaged.
    4. All vaccines have toxic chemicals in them. The flu vaccine has mercury in it and if you break a container, by law, a hazmat team has to clean it up.
    5. Parents who have autistic children and can’t take care of them anymore. Are they going to be dumped in a institution or on the streets? So far, it’s 1 out of 36 who are autistic today. “CDC is paralyzed right now when it comes to anything to do with autism,” explains former senior vaccine safety scientist Dr. William Thompson, who is still a CDC employee. Thompson told Congressman Bill Posey under oath that CDC bigwigs ordered him to destroy data that showed a link between autism and vaccines and to publish a fraudulent study dismissing the link. Today, he is remorseful, “When I see a family with a child with autism, I feel great shame because I have been part of the problem.”
    6. The U.S.A. Is number 1 in infant mortality. According to the schedule and after they are born, they get a Hep B vaccine.
    7. CDC is a vaccine company; it owns 56 vaccine patents and buys and distributes $4.6 billion in vaccines annually through the Vaccines for Children program, which is over 40% of its total budget. Can they really be trusted to test vaccine safety? Vaccines are tested a shorter amount of time, compared to pharmaceuticals. They aren’t tested to a inert placebo.
    8. Mainstream and social media outlets which collectively received $9.6 billion in revenues from pharmaceutical companies in 2016 have convinced themselves they are protecting public health by aggressively censoring criticism of these coercively mandated, zero liability, and untested pharmaceutical products.
    9. Some people think certain diseases have been eliminated because of vaccines. Look at the charts and when they were introduced. The Black Plague went away without a vaccine. Other diseases are still with us because they have mutated or are being called a different name. You can’t eliminate something when you have the virus in the vaccine. The vaccine is supposedly there to teach the immune system what to look for. There are other viruses and contaminates in vaccines that will cause you other problems. Cancer can be a side effect for all pharmaceuticals and vaccines. There is no testing on how all these things added together will affect you. Cancer is big bucks to the medical system.
    10. In 1910, we had 1 out of 100,000 people who had diabetes, very little heart disease and no dementia. We did have some people who were a little senile. As time went by and the addition of pharmaceuticals and vaccines, we are getting sicker. Forty or fifty years ago, our medical system told us to eat low fat, low cholesterol, low sodium, and low what ever. This is not working, because heart disease, cancer, dementia, and other related conditions are at the top of the list. God made our bodies to run on vitamins and minerals and not pharmaceuticals. There are natural remedies for cancer, diabetes, heart disease, dementia, and every affliction known to man. We should also be eating fresher food without sprays and additives. This is America and we should all be working together to make this place better. In a free and open society, the response to difficult questions should never be to shut down debate. I want everybody to be healthy and have great memories. Amen.

  19. An otherwise great article with many great points, I got hung up for a while at the statement “education is a right”. This statement is made without any supporting arguments. This is the sort if thing we see too often from the pro vaccine mandate people. It would be great to see the author make one or two arguments to support this claim.

    1. Sure. Let me first preface by stating that I originally penned this article with the Jewish community of Brooklyn in mind, most of whom send their kids to private schools, not to public schools. My assertion that “education is a right” is based on a nearly two-millennia-old Judaic law that goes back to the second Temple-era, when it was decreed that every town in Judea and the Diaspora was required to provide school-teachers for all the town’s children whose parents were unable to teach them. This law remained in effect throughout all Jewish communities worldwide. Literacy was seen as a right and entitlement to every child. Education of children was seen as a communal obligation. In modern times, I am not a fan of the public school system for numerous reasons I’d rather not enumerate here, and believe it ought to be defunded. At the very least, I’m a big supporter of school choice and school vouchers. Personally, we homeschool our kids, as I’m not such a fan of private school education these days either, sadly. Here is a letter I submitted as signed affidavit to the judge who is hearing one of the cases against NY State. It pretty much sums up the ancient religious precept I summed up above and adds some historical context: http://westbororabbi.blogspot.com/2019/08/open-letter-to-ny-state-legislature.html
