By Request, A Recipe for Master Tonic

There are multiple references on the Internet for this recipe, which by all accounts was adapted by Dr. Richard Schulze, a renowned authority on natural healing, from an anti-plague tonic created by his mentor, the late Dr. John Christopher.1 As discussed in the TVR article, “Healing During Flu and Cold Season With Nature’s Powerful Ingredientsby Rishma Parpia, the basic ingredients of the Master Tonic are apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, horseradish root, onions, habanero peppers and, sometimes, turmeric.

In response to the many requests we have received for an actual “recipe” for Dr. Schulze’s tonic, we offer this interpretation, excerpted from numerous sources including the Florida nonprofit corporation, the “Annie Appleseed Project,”2 My Darling Lemon Thyme, whose recipe includes the turmeric,3 and from the Cancer Compass, An Alternate Route (which also provides a “how-to” video),4 as suggested by one of our readers. The amounts of ingredients are given in proportions rather than strict measurements, to accommodate whatever size vessel is being used.

Master Tonic–Fighting Illness the Natural Way

Raw, unfiltered, unbleached, non-distilled apple cider vinegar (the fermented natural product with “mother” is often recommended for medicinal uses)

1 part fresh chopped garlic cloves

1 part fresh chopped white onion (hot onions, not sweet)

1 part fresh grated ginger root

1 part fresh grated horseradish root

1 part fresh chopped habanero or Scotch bonnet peppers, or the hottest peppers available

1 part fresh chopped turmeric root, if available

Fill a glass jar about three quarters full with equal amounts of the chopped or grated ingredients, then fill the jar the rest of the way up with the apple cider vinegar. Close the jar and shake vigorously, topping off with more vinegar if needed.

Put the jar aside in a dark, cool place and shake it at least once a day for two weeks, then filter the mixture through a clean piece of cheese cloth or cotton, bottle and label.
The dosage is 1 or 2 tablespoons, daily as a preventative and two or more times daily for illness, sweetened with honey if desired. It does not need to be refrigerated and is said to last pretty much forever.
