Causal Link Found Between COVID Vaccine and Six Autoimmune Disorders

Causal Link Found Between COVID Vaccine and Six Autoimmune Disorders

A recently published peer-reviewed scoping review of 109 studies identified consistent patterns of reported associations between COVID-19 vaccination and six autoimmune disorders, including multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, Graves’ disease, and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. The authors reported that, “across the 109 studies, relapses or flares in patients with autoimmune disorders were reported in nearly 60 percent of studies, while about one-quarter described new-onset autoimmune disorders in persons without prior autoimmunity,” suggesting a possible causal link between the vaccine and autoimmunity.1

Scoping reviews are structured syntheses of existing research that map key concepts, trends, and evidence across a given topic. Published in medical and health journals, they follow established methodological guidelines to ensure rigor and transparency. These reviews provide a high-level overview of the literature and often serve as a foundation for future research, frequently preceding more targeted systematic reviews or informing policy and clinical practice by identifying evidence gaps. As noted in a peer-reviewed commentary published in the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, scoping reviews play an integral role in highlighting critical gaps in the existing research that warrant further investigation.2

As the scoping review notes, “Over half of the studies (61/109; 56 percent) suggested a causal direction for these associations, while the rest reported either an unclear causal direction (22/109; 20.2 percent) or no causal direction (26/109; 23.9 percent).” Because scientific research is typically cautious about using causal language, particularly in observational and post-marketing studies, the repeated suggestion of a causal direction in this review holds particular significance.1

Vaccine Adjuvants and Other Mechanisms Associated with Autoimmune Diseases and Flare-Ups

The study continues: “Several mechanisms of action linking COVID-19 vaccination and autoimmune disorders were reported, such as autoimmune inflammatory syndrome induced by adjuvants, molecular mimicry, bystander immune activation, and interactions with immunosuppressive and disease-modifying therapies.”1

Put simply, researchers have identified multiple biological pathways through which COVID vaccination may, in certain individuals, contribute to autoimmune reactions. These include:

  • vaccine ingredients overstimulating the immune system,;
  • the immune system confusing its own tissues for the virus and attacking them by mistake;
  • immune responses that inadvertently damage nearby healthy cells; and
  • complex or unpredictable interactions between vaccination and medications designed to suppress or regulate immune activity.1

The scoping review also challenges efficacy promises. Serious adverse events, while less frequent than mild or moderate reactions, were documented across the literature. The authors note that claims of both general and population-specific vaccine efficacy were frequently asserted, but empirical support for those claims was often lacking.1

COVID Vaccination “Repeatedly Associated With Autoimmune Flares, Relapses, and New Autoimmune Diagnoses”

“More than half the studies suggested a causal relationship,” epidemiologist Nicolas Hulscher, MPH wrote in a Substack post, echoing the scoping review authors’ reporting that 56 percent of included studies suggested a causal direction.1 In a condition-by-condition analysis of all six autoimmune diseases examined—as well as cases involving overlapping or multiple autoimmune presentations—Hulscher detailed how frequently the 109 reviewed studies reported either new-onset autoimmune disease or flares and relapses in individuals with existing autoimmunity.

According to his assessment, 56 percent of the included papers suggested a causal direction between COVID-19 vaccination and autoimmune outcomes.3

“Taken together, these data form the most comprehensive map to date of autoimmune outcomes following COVID-19 vaccination,” Hulscher wrote, summarizing the body of evidence. “Across 109 studies spanning every major autoimmune category, researchers documented recurrent autoimmune flares, new diagnoses in already autoimmune-vulnerable patients, and entirely new autoimmune diseases in previously healthy people.”1

He also noted that the same pattern appeared across dozens of countries and all major vaccine platforms: COVID-19 vaccination was repeatedly associated with autoimmune flares, relapses, and new autoimmune diagnoses. “The signal appears across continents, across vaccine platforms, and across every study design—including case reports, case series, observational cohorts, and controlled data. This is a safety signal that can no longer be dismissed or minimized.”3

Kidney Injury Linked to COVID Vaccination Reinforces the Autoimmune Safety Signal

Kidney harm identified in other recent large-scale studies reinforces the autoimmune safety signals documented in the scoping review. A retrospective cohort study of nearly 2.9 million adults using the TriNetX global health database found that individuals who received an mRNA COVID shot experienced significantly higher rates of acute kidney injury (AKI) and dialysis initiation compared to matched unvaccinated controls over a 12-month follow-up period. Notably, the elevated renal risk increased progressively throughout the year, with no indication of stabilization or decline.4

The kidney findings align closely with immune-mediated mechanisms implicated in autoimmune disease. Data cited in the study show disproportionate reporting of immune-driven renal conditions such as glomerulonephritis and tubulointerstitial nephritis following mRNA vaccination—conditions that are well-recognized complications of autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, including lupus. The authors note that AKI rarely occurs in isolation, instead appearing alongside neurological, cardiovascular, and inflammatory complications, underscoring that “AKI frequently occurs in the context of a multi-system disease.”4

In this context, these findings suggest that renal injury following COVID vaccination may represent another downstream manifestation of immune dysregulation—the same underlying process implicated in autoimmune flares, relapses, and new-onset autoimmune disease. Rather than standing apart, kidney injury appears to fit within a broader pattern of multi-system immune activation that disproportionately affects individuals with autoimmune or inflammatory susceptibility.4

Former CDC Director Calls for Removal of mRNA COVID Shots

The latest research was published just weeks ahead of the former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Robert Redfield, MD calling for the removal of Pfizer and Moderna’s mRNA COVID shots. “I really would like to see the mRNA vaccine use curtailed, and personally, I’d like to see it eliminated, because I think there’s too many unknowns,” Redfield said in an interview with EpochTV.5

Over the past year, an expanding body of post-marketing and observational research has continued to identify a broad range of clinically significant adverse outcomes reported following mRNA COVID vaccination. These include:

  • cardiovascular inflammation and altered cardiac risk profiles,
  • neurological complications;
  • autoimmune activation and disease flares;
  • renal dysfunction;
  • reproductive outcomes such as menstrual disruption and late-term pregnancy loss;
  • ophthalmic changes, and
  • signals warranting further investigation regarding cancer incidence.

  1. Thank you for a well-written, timely article.

    UNFORTUNATELY, the people who REALLY need to read and understand this have their proverbial heads hidden in the sand.

  2. Why hasn’t anybody, especially Fauci, and those that made possible this crime againt humanity been prosecuted??

  3. Keep on taking the poison. They are ‘studying’ the problems. Not like this is a deadly game and those pushing this should be in prison or anything. Nope, it’s not like that. It’s ‘medicine’.

  4. I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease four years ago. For over two years, I relied on Levodopa and several other medications, but unfortunately, the symptoms kept getting worse. The tremors became more noticeable, and my balance and mobility started to decline quickly. Last year, out of desperation and hope, I decided to try a herbal treatment program from NaturePath Herbal Clinic.
    Honestly, I was skeptical at first, but within a few months of starting the treatment, I began to notice real changes. My movements became smoother, the tremors subsided, and I felt steadier on my feet. Incredibly, I also regained much of my energy and confidence. It’s been a life-changing experience I feel more like myself again, better than I’ve felt in years.If you or a loved one is struggling with Parkinson’s disease, I truly recommend looking into their natural approach. 5. I too wonder why Dr. Fauci just disappeared from sight. Nothing about eventually convicting him of crimes against humanity. It is time they did something about him. Dr. Rand Paul was hot on his trail but now you hear nothing about him, and they continue to push the Covid shot just like the flu shot. Thank God we have Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and the entire medical leaders appointed by President Trump who ARE making long-needed changes in our healthcare system. God bless them all!
