A safety shield meant to protect Americans and vaccine makers against lawsuits and vaccine shortages is drowning in scrutiny. Thousands of folks cannot get straight answers from a federal program that evaluates pandemic injury claims. Nearly 11,000 Americans are caught in a tangled web of sorts, waiting for answers from a program called the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program, or CICP. Since 2021, the program has spent millions in taxpayer money on administrative costs and only paid 30 claims. This is going to be a national disaster for vaccine confidence in this country.
